The Cold and Dark screen is accessed from the Flight Generator screen.
Choose to have flights start with various aircraft systems pre-configured, and with various switches set.
Paused / Pause:
Note: Paused / Pause settings are ignored when a flight is generated to use System Time.
Load Aircraft:
Some aircraft require their own special loading applet, supplied with the addon. This should be used to set up types and numbers of loading spaces as described in the addon Manual. Once that's been done and saved the IF10 flights can now be built and the current loading information can be read.
Some aircraft may not want any loading at all and must be loaded with the program that comes with the aircraft. In these cases load the plane with the applet to the approximate amount suggested in the briefing, and go by weight as the passenger count may not be exact.
Note: If the payload is not added to the aircraft, look at these load settings, "Load Before Start" is the default setting.
Fuel Selectors 0 and 1: Ensure the engines can start running by having a fuel supply. Usually select "All", but some aircraft are particular about the setting. These correspond with fuel settings in the FSX .FLT save game file ([Fuel.0] TankSelector=All).
Default Settings Button: The Default Cold and Dark Settings incorporate all the items selected, except Propeller Settings, Cowl Flaps, Fuel Pumps, and Cabin Lights.
Cold and Dark Button: Only the Fuel, ATC, and Kneeboard items are set. With some add-on aircraft you may need to experiment to see what settings can be made.
Other Cold and Dark Settings:
Aircraft is Serviced: Refers to the FSX Engine time setting. This is set to zero each flight.
Comms Channels 1 and 2 Frequencies are set at the start of the flight. (>augmented)
Swap Comm 1 and 2: Refers to the FSX radio settings at the start of the flight. When comm 1 and 2 are swapped, comm 1 is assigned the ATIS frequency and comm 2 is assigned the Tower frequency (where available). To stop ATIS at the stat of the flight with default radio priority files, uncheck the More Settings item "Swap Comm 1 and 2", and the Radio starts silently.
Receive Both Comm 1 and 2: Refers to the FSX radio settings at the start of the flight. Both active radio 1 and 2 comms channels will be receiving at the same time.
Comm 1 and 2 Priority text files: Comm1Priority.txt and Comm2Priority.txt found in the Profiles Folder with Settings.ini. The lists hold the set of radio types available, ordered by priority. If Ground is before Tower and there are both Ground and Tower available, then the Ground channel will take precedence.
