There's a few things improved and fixes in the coming update Preview 18:

The bug which makes the weather update non-stop is fixed.

There's some improvements to the atmospherics I've now include into IF weather.

I've included the Assist option to auto tune the navigation to a runway ILS. Just enhancing that with the plan reissued to suite the new runway.

The Assist function of the throttle manager is improved to handle the braking and parking brake. Holding the brake on while stopped will set the parking brake after a few seconds.

Assist functions are intended for aircraft type that don't have the functionality, and also as an aid to accessibility.

Thanks, IF is running fine now. Install (or IF) has repopulated the respective config.ini settings.

I just noticed one tiny thing:
When I select a new (destination) airport in the airport browsing window (the one with the world map), the progress bar of "generating flight" pops up and does its thing... When it is done, it disappears. The "Please wait..." after the newly selected airport, though, stays!

All else is OK: flight plan has been generated and written correctly, Scenario Briefing htm has been done etc...

OK thanks. I will look into that - consider that fixed next update. Glad to have you around because there's been a massive overhaul to IF going along with the Accessibility and we need to find all the glitches. So there will be some minor things to work on, please keep a lookout for anything. Apologies for any bumps in the road.

I forgot to post later previews here 19,20,21. There are several discussions with links to those.

Preview 22 includes some bug fixes:

The runway prediction was altered a while back and that was not done correctly. Runway prediction is not a straightforward computation. Much easier to ascertain that when flying in the simulator. Ideal Flight computes that without the simulator running so can be inconsistent with ATC. We can build a flight and go into the simulation control tower views and choose the ATIS radio channel to find the active runway. Back in IF we can choose that runway in flight gen or edit plan, and rebuild the flight.

In v5 there's a lot of new information in the scenery files which are twice as large as the v4 files. A lot of that space it taken up from undulations around the airport and on the runways. The briefing has been improved to show the proper list of approaches which v5 fooled IF into listing lots of data we don't need.

If swapping setups between v4 and v5, if we wish, we can rename the data folder and keep v4 and v5 settings apart:

We can rename "C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight Professional" to "C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight Professional - v4" before running setup for v5. The way to choose setup is to press the "!" exclamation button to the right of the Prepar3D location box to find the folders for v4 and v5.

Thanks for your patience and I appreciate the kind remarks and reports regarding the progress of the latest previews. Preview 22 should be available later today hopefully. With v5 HF2 the aircraft might crash at the start with altitude less than the ground level. I'm making an adjustment for that at the moment.

In the meantime this can be fixed before clicking Fly! by setting a value in n_Ideal_Flight.FLT (n = pilot ID) with notepad:

C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight Professional\Flight\New\0_Ideal_Flight.FLT

save and start the flight.

Alternatively we can disable crash detection as an easier option.

OK I found that some parking places, example EGKK gate 13, seem to have an invisible item in the way and we crash into it when starting there or arriving there.

This will be a P3D problem. So crash detection set to off is really only required when we find such locations. I will be spending some more time analysing this problem and report later.
