In Preview 10, Assist window, move to locations list, there are now runway items that are called Hold Short that we can warp to instead of directly onto the runway. These are temporary, and not the real places on the taxiway where we would actually taxi to before moving onto the runway. They are just off the runway opposite the take-off starting place. So we can warp there and contact ATC for take-off.

After landing we can also warp off the runway to a hold short location before warping to the parking place we are given. I might have time to do something better after landing by moving off automatically and include the option in the Assist settings.

Do you think this will work OK for you for the time being?

It'd be nice if we can warp to the actual taxi hold short locations for Vatsim, however yes, this is fine for now. Ideally when taxi support comes hopefully in build 11 that we can taxi to the hold short thresholds.

That's the plan. Ideal Flight already knows the taxi layout and in the briefing shows taxiways and runways in the maps. In the next build I can use that to plot the routes to and from the runways and the aircraft can hold short on the taxiway.

I wonder if in future wecan tell Ideal Flight how to plot a route.

On Vatsim they'll say Taxi to runway 36-R using bravo delta and sometimes it's very long.

I'm not sure how many routes there can be from a gate to one runway, but being able to tell Ideal Flight which taxiways to follow so we can follow the controllers instructions would be great. One step at a time though, I suppose.

Another thing that would be necessary is to be able to hold short during taxi if a controller says to due to traffic, perhaps braking with period could be used to hold short at current location and then a key shortcut to resume taxi.

That's all in the plan. Ideal Flight will be able to plot a route by itself and also allow you to dictate the route. You can already brake and auto-throttle stops and resumes with the hotkey. Ideal Flight already detects traffic and will be doing various things to avoid it during taxi.

Sounds great. How far along is preview 10?

The shadows and texture rendering seemed to have helped.

Having issues with the takeoff assist. My 737 will not stay airborne on takeoff and I think the touchdown AP off assist is activating shortly after takeoff. Here's a video demonstrating what I mean:

Edit: Figured it out. The initial default climb of 1000 was too low.

So if a climb of 2000 works, I'm not sure what to set for 10000 then. I had 1500 but IF didn't put any throttle in after 10000 but did change the AP speed.

You okay? Haven't scene you on the forums since the first. Auto-throttle is great BTW. Does the landing assist as far as keeping straight before touchdown only work when the IF auto-throttle is enabled?

Sorry for absence, been away from the computer for the weekend.

In the takeoff assist, Ideal Flight sets the AP to 500 fpm for rotate, then when off ground sets the AP to the lower climb rate (VS) you set in the I F Aircraft Parameters page. If that is too steep for the power available the aircraft will slow down or stall. During the climb I F changes the climb rates at the designated altitudes and rates you set in the Aircraft Parameters page by updating the VS in the AP at those altitudes.
