...I have been unable to get an error in the Assists window with Traffic Global so far. What must I set up with Traffic Global in order to create the problems?

Did you go through the starter wizard, so that the airport facilities could be added to the scenery of the simulator?

Perhaps it's FSAerodata being installed along with it. I'll re-enable it to see if I get the error but this is similar to the FSAerodata problem we had a year back that seemed to have fixed itself.

Re-enabled the scenery and getting the error in the log again, with the location items being empty.

Wonder if it matters where the scenery is placed in the library, whether it should be at the very top etc, but that might mess up other addons if I move it up to the top.

Do you mean the "Run Setup Wizard" button? Yes that's been run. I've also got fsAerodata installed.

I am unable to raise an error with this configuration in Prepar3D v4. Perhaps there's some other option I have to configure.

Also it is possible another addon is interfering with your system? I would run the simulator stock with fsAerodata and Traffic Global to check.

Given the amount of problems reported with Traffic Global, I would guess many of these problems might come down to a fault in the simulators and they cannot support the program correctly. Although I've spotted one or two issues, I've not seen any substantial problems with Traffic Global so far.

Okay, I guess my next thing to try is for stock sim with FSAerodata.

Give me the procedure for getting stock sim without uninstalling everything? I remember I tried a procedure you explained a while back but that resulted in me having to email LM to reset my activations. Unless I missed a step along the way.

Well, I don't know what you did to your sim to lose your license.

To check stock you generally need only uncheck the add=ons items that are scenery in options.

You obviously have something installed that messes your sim around, but that's not an issue for Ideal Flight.

A sim needs to be generally fault free for IF to be able to operate 100% successfully but usually bad installs don't affect IF. Your symptoms are unusual.

To get a fresh sim is what I told you before - this is what I do to get a stock sim and keep my addons installed:

I use the control panel - "Uninstall a program". Uninstall the client, that removes all the P3D v4 files, leaves everything else intact.

Next I rename all the folders to Old:

C:\Users\you\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
to
C:\Users\you\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 Old

and also the following:

C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
C:\Users\you\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files
C:\Users\you\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

There is the pictures folder but I generally don't worry about that:
C:\Users\you\Pictures\Prepar3D v4 Files

Next I install P3D v4 and voila, I have a stock install in less than half an hour.

I install Ideal Flight after that since it does nothing to the installation and it is a baseline check the simulator is working well in all systems. No other add-on can do this.

Next I would install Traffic Global and check it is installed OK, I can look at the scenery.cfg and see it is set up in:
C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\scenery.cfg

Title=Traffic Global Airport Facilities
Local=C:\Users\you\Documents\TrafficGlobal\AirportFacilities

What is most important is to remember to run Prepar3D after installing any add-on first so that it finishes setting up the addon.

Then I can run Ideal Flight again and check the Assist page is able to work fully.

Next I can install fsAerodata and see that is installed OK by running Ideal Flight because that will check the navigation data is resident and working. And again I can check the Assist window in Ideal Flight, everything works OK.

Next I can install my aircraft and see that works OK too.

Then I can follow with any other add-ons, usually by simply copying the xml folder from the add-ons folder:
C:\Users\you\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons

...So to copy the addon folder with the xml file from:

"C:\Users\you\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons Old"

folder to the new:

"C:\Users\you\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons"

folder will allow the original add-on installation to persist in the fresh Prepar3D install.

However some items can't be copied over like the global additions to ORBX scenery and some aircraft since they are installed into the main Prepar3D folder structure.

Before installing those types of addons I choose the Properties from the popup menu for the program files folder:

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin

From the properties window I go into the security page tab and choose Edit

I then choose the Users item, and check the permission for Users "Modify Allow". This also adds the "Write" permission. Doing this enables those older addons to work properly without special handling of permissions and makes the simulation more reliable.

Installing the simulator in a user made folder is not as good as using the purpose made Program Files folder because admins do not have access. Although the user has automatic permission in his own user folders and gives the impression of more reliable working, but only for that user.

Okay, uninstalled the client, and renamed all of those folders to old.

I then install it again and now it is basically saying that default scenery isn't there and asking me to unload everything. World base scenery, etc.

What did I do wrong here?

Sorry I can't guess. However if you didn't rename all the folders then you would have a part install already existing. Renaming all the folders properly means that there's no evidence of the simulator on the system and any install is new.
