P3D + Opus

Postby jomni » Sun Dec 01, 2013 1:54 am

I fly in VATSIM and I want real world weather injection. So here are a few questions.

1) Is Ideal Flight weather based on real world?
2) I mainly use Opus. So I switched off IF weather. But Opus weather is never injected in P3D when IF flight starts.

Hi jomni,

Well I know Opus works great with FSX when IF10 is running, in fact, unless you've not turned off IF10 weather, there's nothing IF10 can do to stop any weather program working.

This sounds like Opus needs to be set to "run with FSX/P3D". I think Opus will work fine with the correct settings, you should stick to that for real world weather. If you have P3DV2 then you should check out the Opus site for recent P3DV2 updates.

IF10 weather is generated completely offline without access to weather reports, in other words it's fictional weather.

Thanks. Opus works well with P3Dv2.

So I just have to turn off IF weather and opus will still be able to inject weather into the sim? Have to observe more. It did not work the last time I tried.

Yes, that's right, if you use Opus, or any other weather you need to get IF10 weather turned off else it will inject new weather over the current weather. Other than that there's no mechanism within IF10 that can stop any other add-on running, FSX or P3D.

All the best.
