go to the
C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles\Setups

directory and delete
Default_Default.ini

and any file with "F1_Cessna Mustang" in the file name.

Go to flight gen - aircraft properties and right click menu
- choose "Recreate parameters"

now rebuild a complete flight starting at a stock FSX airport

Just have IF start FSX, leave out other addons for now.

it starts with engines running?

- end flight - back in IF uncheck "Engines Running" rebuild and fly
- turn on the ignitions and press the engine start buttons

Steve
I did as you instructed and deleted the ini file but didn't find any F1_Cessna Mustang files in that directory. Should I have?

Recreated parameters and also made sure that the c&d settings were at default

Started FSX with IF - engines were running - ended flight

Changed c&d settings to uncheck engines running and rebuilt plan

Started FSX with IF - tried to ignite engines but same result as before

Thanks,
Brent

...with the default warm setup and engines unchecked i built another route. Once in the sim, I turned on the two ignition switches to the left of the left yoke, and pressed the start buttons to their left and the engines fired up. I then took off to be sure all was working correctly.

No issues found so far with this nice little jet. I'm just not sure what could stop yours working that could be a result of a setting in the .FLT.

I presume if you run the .FLT in FSX without IF you still cannot start the engines?

Steve
I've reinstalled the Mustang and that had no effect but I've gotten closer to figuring out what I need to do at least to start from C&D through an IF .pln

There is a fuel cutoff on the throttles which you can identify if you have tooltips checked in the FSX options. Hover the mouse over the throttles (easier to do in the 2D panel and is marked on the console). When the aircraft loads they should be open and that is the case for me. If I engage the cutoff and then reopen before turning on the battery and the engine engage the engines fire up just fine.

The only IF startup items I had checked was the parking brake and the kneeboard. Why this would be I've no idea but at least I'm able to start from a full cold and dark aircraft which is all I wanted.

More testing tomorrow!

Thanks for your help,
Brent

Isn't it amazing how stuff like this comes up endlessly with FSX? It goes to show the cleverness of FSX that we can throw so much at it.

Check the Fuel Loading - set for "Even" - changing this can cause problems with a few a/c,
and with some very small aircraft you may need to set load to zero.

I am really glad you stuck with it. Can get really frustrating sometimes...

All the best, speak later

Yes, fuel selectors were set to full...I still can't reconcile why you had no problem with this aircraft and I have. If I load a default MS C172 cold and dark .pln file and then switch to the Mustang I don't need to fiddle with the fuel cutoff switch on the throttle to get her going.

The answer will probably pop up somewhere!

That seems to suggest the Mustang is faulty but it works here. Is there something in the controls setup that can alter such behaviour? Or another addon?

The thing to try is choose an IF .FLT with explorer and Open With FSX, you should get the same problems if it stems from the .FLT.

C:\Users\<name>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\Ideal_Flight.FLT

Will be there if you already pressed the Fly! button.

Been playing all day and there's nothing to cause a problem. With AivLasoft EFB, IF was responding to a call from FSX alerting to the plan change, it should have simply logged it, instead it was reacting as if the Aircraft position had changed, so the FSX loading box came up, IF can do things like this.

There's no mechanism other than the items in the .FLT to affect the way an aircraft starts up. All the .FLT items IF sets can be set from the settings in the program. I'm beginning to think there is something else we've forgotton to consider...
