Yes RC works well. You want to choose Cold and Dark options to start unpaused, uncheck the Paused checkbox so the sim starts running, or if you want to start in a paused state check the Pause box as opposed to the PauseD box. Pause stops the sim as soon as RC has picked up the weather.

Thanks for the reply,Steve. I am still considering buying Ideal Flight so I wonder if you could clarify the start-up sequence for FSX,RC4.3,Ideal Flight. Finally do all three programmes run during the flight.
Thanks

IF10 doesn't care if FSX is already running when you start a flight, or if not, IF10 will start FSX anyway. But ignoring IF10 for just a moment, get RC4 going the way you like it. It's a long time since I played with RC4 but I think RC4 can be set to start automatically with FSX's exe.xml, or start RC4 manually before FSX is started up. Once FSX is running with the sim started up so that the FSX navigation and ATC/Ai is started up, then RC4 start button is pressed.
Coming back to IF10, IF0 can start .exe or .bat files from an entry in IF's Config.ini file so you could start RC4 with that so that when you start an IF10 flight RC4 starts then. It depends on how you like to do things.
The main thing for RC4 is that the sim has started fully before the sim is paused. That's what the IF10 Cold and Dark settings "Pause/Paused" is for, some add-ons need the sim to start in a running state and so with IF, you would unselect both of these or if you wanted to start with a paused flight choose the "Pause" setting (rather than Paused) to stop the sim just after it has started up.
All the best
