Pilot rating transfer

Postby Revs » Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:23 am

I am buying a new PC.
Is there a way I can transfer my pilot rating etc. to this new PC.
Please bear in mind I may need a step by step tutorial as I am not all that PC literate.

Once you get your new PC up and running with FSX, install Ideal Flight as usual on the new PC.
Once IF is installed and working (you will need to register it on your new PC, use your current key).

Now all that is needed is to copy over the top of the Profiles directory with a copy of the same directory from your old PC. The Profiles directory contains a set of files and the profile directories. These simply overwrite your fresh installation Profiles directory. Then run IF and your profile should appear as usual.

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles

Vista, Win7:
C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles

Come back nearer the time and we can discuss it in more detail if need be.

All the best

Make sure the entire contents of the Profiles folder overwrite the freshly installed one.
C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles
contains a list of files and subdirectories
With explorer drag your backup \Profiles directory onto the new
C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\
directory to overwrite \Profiles
then run IF

Hello David,
I have now got this up and running as follows.
When I replaced the profiles folder I had two profile folders.
I deleted the original and replaced it with my copy and it is now up and running.
Thanks for your help.
