Hi Steve
Not to be a pest or annoying, just a follow up to see how you are dowing with P3D version.
So far the only negative in P3D is the flight eselection and loading, we need IF10 ???
Again sorry if this is repetative.

Hi Dave,

No problem, please keep pestering :)

Yes I agree, P3D needs a proper front end and for the time being it seems IF would make the best choice. Although there is not a mad exodus from FSX to P3D I am working to make "IFP" available as soon as possible and something will be ready as soon as possible.

The main drag on time has been prepping the boxed version for Flight1. None the less I've been working on IFP and it's not a long way off.

Thanks again Dave.

I went to a FS con in th e Netherlands and there I was converted to P3D. It's running great, and most add-ons work fine. But I think you can guess: there's no P3D alternative for IF really. So... we're full of hope for the near future, Steve! The more I use IF, the more I enjoy it and convince people to use it.

You are very kind indeed promoting IF, thank you Turambar! Rest assured that the P3D version is coming, IF's not like scenery or planes and also requires a different license for P3D. The timeline I had planned altered considerably over the last half year. I'm finally getting back on shedule soon with an update [sf] and P3D version, although they are several weeks away yet. I appreciate everone's patience and I'm working hard, we are going to get a good update and plenty of great upgrades for IF.
Thanks again.

You said we could keep perstering, so... ;)

Do you think Ideal Flight for Prepar3d will happen this year? Because frankly, IF is the only thing that keeps me from completely removing my FSX installation and moving over to Prepar3d altogether, because the latter runs so much smoother and without any random "out of memory" crashes on my PC. So I always have to decide to either use IF and live with all the bugs and errors of FSX, or running Prepar3d but without the joy of surprise where IF takes me next (and without having someone tell me how much I suck at flying ;) )

So, a rough estimate of the time of release would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and keep up your great work! IF is one of my favourite FSX addons of all time and it really made me enjoy FSX all over again.

I can only offer lame excuses for the delay but a proper P3D version should be out this year. There's a lot of work gone into IF recently to help with the P3D version. Look out for version [sf] soon. Thanks for your persistence! :)

Thanks for the quick answer, Steve. Considering the migration tool: I thought about that, but does it really provide all the functionality of IF within Prepar3d? I think IF is doing many things outside the actual simulator and I was worried if it could do all that for Prepar3d. Some people on the forum reported that they got IF to work as a simple "startup tool" for Prepar3d which at least solved the issues coming with the annoying omission of a decent Pre-Flight setup screen in Prepar3d. But they also said that all the flight monitoring, analysis and flight performance, "career stuff" and so on did NOT work for them. So I`m still not sure about this.

Thanks a lot anyway!

Unfortunately I can't comment on the migration tool. Perhaps turambar can help with your concerns since has good experience using the tool?

A little update: using the migration tool really DOES work! Been doing four flights so far in Prepar3d and everything seems to be ok. The only thing that troubled me was TrackIR which refused to work when Prepar3d was started by Ideal Flight. But even that can be solved by first starting Prepar3d, and then LATER loading a flight using IF while Prepar3d is already running.

So, thanks everyone for making me happy again :-)

Regards,

Fabian
