Be excited...be very excited... heehee :D

Here the Ideal Flight auto-planner finds logical airways depending on expected runways in use:

The Edit Plan button on the Flight Gen page now allows for manual adjustment of the flight level for the plan, the adjusted altitude is used for the final cruise altitude throughout the build.

Image

The flight level for a plan is automatically chosen depending on terrain altitude and VFR/IFR/plan direction of travel and so on. Most of the world normally use East=odd, West=even thousands of feet altitude from 3000ft, add 500ft for VFR. In Europe it's South=odd, North=even thousands, and UK depends on the quadrant of direction, odd, odd+500, even, even+500 each 90 degree quadrant clockwise from North-East.

Yes.... but it takes so long for mother to recover.
Please, dr. Steve, give us the date she'll leave the hospital, so we can arrange flowers and cake and fireworks... :-)

..damned bb down all night :(

but anyway back online now, calm down everyone ! :D

The encouragement you all give me is awesome and will be repaid in code

After such a lot of interruptions I've finally been solidly working on IF for a few weeks. It's late now so I've moved a lot of [sg] functionality forward into [sf] and may as well have to wait a little longer to deliver the full effect, it's been honed in every quarter. The [sf] preview has the new weather engine and several new core data handling features - a lot of care needed, apart from goofing up some flight gen functions and some plan types, and thunderstorms and some other weather types accidently muted, the preview has been working very well. At least the main code changes have settled in nicely.

There's plenty more to come even for those that have the preview. I've sorted out and improved all the plans, route tables, maps, flight gen functions, and world map functions. I'm just enhancing the world map with better tracks and some other stuff. Since IF does a lot of stuff there's been corners cut a little to get a lot of features in place and working, and so leaving plenty of room to polish and improve on the handling. So i'm addressing every issue, every small thing anyone mentioned, putting in anything anyone wanted as long as it fits the theme, and then there's still a lot left for [sg] yet.

SO [sf] is going to happen very soon and it's better than planned, but there's a bigger picture since Flight1 is in charge of sales and schedules. Rest assured the version of IF I've got here really makes IF more Ideal.

Hey molleh,

Your request is in for defaulting fuel and payload settings by omitting the sections in the .FLT which causes the aircraft to assume defaults as per the aircraft.cfg. Here on the flight gen page the Payload has been set and now I'm setting the fuel:

Thanks to VeryBumpy found over on the AVSIM forum, we now have a button on the world map to cycle quickly through the main groups of searched/parked airports and onshore/offshore locations. Derek has put a lot of effort into testing IF - thanks VB.

The tracks have been enhanced with darker edges, there are several other improvements in and around the world map.

In the briefing maps and route tables, the NDB/VOR types have been resolved into NDB, DME, VOR, and VORD (co-located VOR/DME).

Here's a shot of the new map symbols from IF Help, Briefing section:
