No User Waypoints

Hi again Steve,
I'm embarrassed to ask for more help.
This morning I built a plan EGNT-LFBD. The parameters were as usual, IFR Approach Waypoints Included. The resulting plan was missing my usual approach waypoints numbered 4-3-2, leaving now, a final 90 degree turn to the runway. Can I reset something to restore my previous approach procedure?

Hi Jim,

Yes, I think this is what you are asking for:

On the Flight Generator page, you choose 'Plan Type' with Approach Waypoints Included. Then on the Mission page choose from 'Approaches and Departures': 'Computed Approach' and 'Initial Departure Fix'.

Also you can adjust the approach in 'Other Approach Settings' if the 45/45 degree approach is not set you will get 60/30 degrees.

You can also set the 'Approach Leg Times' in minutes - this depends on the speed settings on the Aircraft 'Flight Parameters' page: Approach and Landing speeds.

I hope that helps.

Steve

Many thanks, Steve, and for your patience. I'm presently enroute to LFBD for better or worse. The new settings will be for the return.

You're welcome!

I presume the other problems all sorted out OK?

Sadly, No.
I've uninstalled all the invisible airports, and re-installed Lisbon and Madrid, both still invisible.
I've tried finding default airports in the UK. All I've tried visible to IF. Across Europe some are visible, some not. For example LOWW, Vienna, is not found.

I think it is probably significant that P3D5 is reporting "Scenery.cfg file error. Scenery's remote directory is invalid: Would you like to unload this area?" This has happened recently, though I can't remember exactly when.
I would delete the scenery.cfg and let P3D build a new one, but I have a mass of Orbx stuff, and at my advanced age I'm scared of failure to successfully restore all that.

Edit: I've just looked at scenery.cfg and Madrid is not listed, despite it being listed in the scenery library within P3D itself.

As ever, any thought are welcome. Apologies for this long post.

Jim

Ideal Flight reads the scenery.cfg, so that would have to be correct for the scenery to be identified correctly.

I don't have any ideas why your setup is behaving that way, but perhaps a complete reinstall of P3D would sort it out.

My latest thoughts: I found some backups in the folder containing P3D's scenery.cfg. I renamed one of IF'S backups and replaced the P3D one. The error message has now disappeared. I'll install the now missing airports one by one, and see what transpires. IdealFlight can see all the airports in this "new" scenery.cfg.

Restoring an old working scenery.cfg was a good idea! Well done Jim.

All I have done has cast no light on the mystery of why IdealFlight can see some airports and not others. Since it could see them all before then the answer must lie in P3D. I agree that a fresh installation of P3D should be my next step.
Until I can pluck up enough courage to do that, I have 33 airports visible to IF, so in the meantime I'll fly between them.

Thanks for all your advice and patience.

Jim.

Ideal Flight can only 'see' scenery specified correctly by the scenery.cfgs.

However, since you say IF only sees 33 airports, perhaps you have excluded the others by selection of an airports subset. Check on the Flight Generator page: 'Airports Subset' - make sure you chose 'Complete Scenery Airport Set.
