Two Problems

Hi Steve,
1. Airport Search is sometimes returning "No Airport Found", or occasionally a very different airport. All following a new Complete Re-indexing of Aircraft and Airports.
2. Each new Flight Plan I have built, has failed to list ILS frequencies for runways I know have them.
All the above follows many hundreds of successful flights planned by Ideal Flight.
I'm tempted to do an uninstall/re-install for a fresh beginning, but I'd like very much have your advice.
Jim H.

I've tried restoring a backup but it made no difference. Does the problem lie with the data which ID indexes? If so, where is that data which then must be corrupted?
If anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful to hear them.

Hi Jim,
I've not heard of such problems, however, some problems appear when search settings require adjustment - as follows:
Airport search is arranged like a torus or doughnut shape around your current location. On the Flight Generator page, have a look at the Duration Hours (Min, Max). Min is the nearest and Max is the farthest from your location. You might need to widen the search area between Min and Max. For example, if you have a Min of 1:45h and a Max of 2:00h, that would define a strip 15 minutes wide around your location starting 1:45h flight time from you. In some cases, there might not be any airports inside that torus.
Also, check the Airport Filter Selection settings allow for all airports.
The scenery that is indexed is found in the sim Scenery folder and Scenery addons defined in the sim.
For example:
'C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Scenery'
and 'C:\Users\<you>\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons'.
If you have a backup of your IF data (use the main menu on the front page) you can try uninstall from Control panel then install in the usual way. After testing this default setup you can restore back to your original place after.
There's always a possibility these issues might be caused by an addon scenery somehow interfering with the scenery files.
Regards
Steve

Hi, Steve.
Thanks for your suggestions. Do these also apply to the failure to show ILS frequencies?
IF was set to include approach waypoints, and built hundreds of those flights successfully, until I approached my destination, only to find the approach required a turn of around 340 degrees to line up with the runway. I switched off the autopilot, made a manual approach, landed an thought no more of it. That was where my problems started.

ILS frequencies should always appear if the runways have them.
You could check by choosing an airport you know has ILS:
On the World Map page or Flight Generator page, choose an airport then click the View Airport Map round green button to show a map with details.
So for example I chose at random LFLX and this shows runway 21 has ILS 110.30MHz.

Ideal Flight makes an Index of the Scenery so that it can build fast lookup tables. When the index is completed, a log file is produced showing the results.
Find this file at:
'C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight Professional\Log\Index.log'
Also, you can see a list of airports found on the World Map page with the 'View Scenery List' round globe button.

The World Airports List is missing many of my airports, which IF formerly planned flights to.
I grew to suspect that my missing airports had something in common - their address began with the Author's name. I chose EKCH, stripped off "Fly Tampa", did what was necessary in P3D, re-indexed airports, and IF found EKCH.
IF built the flight EGNT-EKCH, destInation runway 4L no ILS. I looked up that runway, and found 4L had a frequency of 110.50.
I've now completed that flight, right down the ILS onto 4L.
I'm pretty ancient now, not so clever as I used to be, and a bit scared of what I would find after an uninstall/re-install of IdealFlight Pro. I seem to have a "Work Around" now, so.............?

That sounds like a problem with the addon scenery definitions or XML files showing the wrong folder names. I don't think this is a problem with IF so I would expect no change with reinstalling IF. However, you might have some luck with going through the addon scenery installs again.

Hi again, Steve,
I think all I've said before maybe rubbish. I've just done to LPPT exactly as I did for EKCH, but this time IF cannot find LPPT. I'm in despair now. At the time all this began I had made no changes in P3D scenery for a long time, hence my assumption that something must be amiss with Ideal Flight.

I've identified the items IF can see. I'll uninstall all the others, then install them one by one. I'll report back whatever. Meanwhile I want to thank you for helping.
