Parked aircrafts

Postby Hoeller » Sat Aug 27, 2011 12:42 pm

Hi Steve,

I'm having a hard time with one of the features I love the most in IF: Parked aircrafts.

I'm trying to park my favorites aircrafts on a specific location in order to have a "family picture" of them (and maybe a movie). I thought that with the latest version of IF I did not have to actually fly them in the airport to get them parked, so here is what I tried:

In IF I select the aircraft and a free flight from my target field, and launch the flight. When in FSX, I simply slew the aircraft to the position I want (I see the IF green ticker with pushback time when I slew it), then exit slew mode, exit FSX and go back to IF where I get an incomplete flight assessment. If I right-click there I can click option to "Save aircraft location" and then go back to airport view. But the aircraft position is NOT saved by doing this. If I go to Aircraft selection and select another plane, I don't have the usual message box asking if I want to remember the position of the parked aircraft, and the aircraft doesn't appear in parked aircrafts list...

Am I doing something the wrong way? Can't figure what... I have an aircraft already parked at this airfield, but this one after I flew it normally from another airport.

Regards,
Olivier.

Hi Olivier,

You have to land an aircraft first to park it.
Hide Parked Aircraft (in Flight Gen) must be unchecked to see it after changing to another aircraft.

Would you want to simply choose any plane and automatically it becomes parked, or do you prefer to have to land it first?

The new feature of being able to choose to only park an aircraft after a flight has caused this new situation, IF would normally disallow it since you are not landed and not currently patrked.

Thanks again;

I was trying to park them without flying and landing them, it would be nice to be able to quickly fill an airport with one's favorites plane, then take a walk with orbx Bob or EZCA world cam to admire these beauties together and take a few pictures or movie footage...

I was thinking that as long as pushback was detected by IF it was possible to save the new location and park there, it would be a nice feature I think.

I really love the parked planes idea, it's always a blast to land back to an airport and see my big Stratocruiser waiting for me on the ramp. Always brings a smile on my face! :D

Now when you select a new aircraft, and move it, or land it, it is said to be parked, and will show in the sim.

Thank you very much Steve,

Your reactivity is much appreciated!

In the mean time I managed to take a family picture of some of my favorites birds:

Aren't they beautiful ?
