Steve this has nothing to do with IF except if I get this machine to act right IF will be install on it.
I need you expertise on this. This also post at Avsim.

How can I get the Samsung Magician Software to recognize the interface and ahci while in raid mode in the BIOS?

I have 2x M.2 ssd 512gb total in raid with OS on it. I installed a Samsung 850 evo 500gb which shows installed. On the Samsung Magician software it shows:

Interface:Unable to detect

AHCI Mode:Deactivated

In the BIOS enable: Intel RST Premium with Intel Optane System Acceleration (RAID) which is the original setup.

In the BIOS I enable the AHCI so the M.2 are disabled it will not boot. I have to leave the (Raid enable to Boot) OS on it.

The Samsung M software says without AHCI the 850 evo will not have full performance.

Thanks for your help.

You might not be able to do it with full performance unless you connect it to a true intel sata 6Gb port. I'll need more time to look at it.

Anything here helpful?

How's it going? I'm thinking from what you are saying you are using an Optane cache and pair of M.2 drives in RAID 0 bootable and attaching an SSD and Magician says not full performance. The RAID 0 array is seen as one single bootable drive. As you say to attach the SSD in ahci means disabling the boot drive, you may need another controller, I don't know what your motherboard has.

...think maybe that's it - you need another controller in there otherwise you can't run the RAID array. You can get a card takes four M.2s and has an onboard controller may enable you to do it that way - not sure so would need advice from the vendors.

I had an email this week from tech consumer guide suggesting to add a link to this discussion to their page about Intel Optane: Intel Optane Memory vs RAM.

This page expands on the use of Intel Optane and may be helpful for visitors to this discussion.

Thanks go out to tech consumer guide for letting us know!
