no compatible flight

Postby kolaf » Fri Apr 20, 2012 7:14 pm

Hi,

I guess you have heard this before, but I am having trouble generating a new flight. I am using it with P3D, but that should matter this is the scenery files are shared between this and FSX. I have searched the forum without getting any wiser.

I am currently parked at Vancouver International in a turbine Duke. I have orbx Pacific Northwest, Pacific fjords, and the Northern Rocky Mountains installed, so there should be a very large amount of suitable airports within easy reach. However, it fails to find a compatible flight went searching only north-east and north-west. When a broadened the directions it found Seattle to the south.

I have set the range to around six hours, and the minimum runway length to 1000 feet (width 30 feet). Why can't I find anything to the north? Is there some other setting a need to tweak to make ideal flights understand that I really can put the turbine Duke down on the airfield?

I appreciate your help.

plonked myself at Vancouver International in a Duke Turbine.
Set flight times 1h -> 2h in flight gen
All quadrants checked and ILS
pressed search
got around 30 airports in the search between 1 and 2 hours flying

unchecked south quadrants
got 9 airports between 1 and 2 hours flying north

I suggest checking your flight times.

Sorry, figured it out, my mistake. It turns out that the filters at the bottom (ILS etc) are anded, not ored.

Thanks for this one - I have to say, I find these filters slightly confusing too!

I wasn't getting any flights generated as I had all "Includes" ticked, assuming that this would give me the greatest range of airports from which to search/choose from...

I only actually got any flights when all of these were unchecked?

Yes, I have made it clearer,

checked include filter = "only include those with"
checked exclude filter = "exclude all with"

The include tooltips used to say "Only" Include... which was correct then, i've already put that back right. I'll be looking at the Help too.

I'm at the stage now of replacing the prototype buttons with proper ones, smartening up the UI and arranging things to be easier to understand and look more attractive.

[rr] out soon...

Thanks for your support

from the Help:
The top row of filters are to ONLY INCLUDE airports with the facility.
The bottom row of filters are to EXCLUDE any airports with the facility.

...a confusing one is the Military filter; some airports have military ramps defined, but not all military airports have military ramps, leaving no generic way of determining if military or not, so they don't come out in the filter.
