Hi Steve
Just came across this add on about a week ago. really impressed. Have just been using the demo version and have been trying to use the PMDG. I cannot get the flight plans downloaded into the FMC. Is this normal with demo mode ? I am pretty sure I will purchase shortly but just want to check is does work OK.

Yes that is correct. IF makes the flight and plan and that is loaded by the GPS, works with any addon GPS too. But for FMSs it is different.

A lot of addon planes have a heritage in older versions of FS and do not load FSX flight plans. Some new planes can load an FSX plan in the FMS but not the PMDGs. In this case you need to convert the plan (e.g with FScommander) to a .rt2 file and place it it the PMDG co-route folder. Then you can load the plan at the start of the flight in the FMS with the co-route button. An upgrade is planned to handle the different FMSs and their files, and should be out before Christmas. Eventually IF will make the proper file depending on the plane and export it to the folder where the FMS can find it.

About to purchase but have noticed 2 products, idealflight and idealflight10. Which one or are they both the same ? I have noticed idealflight is available as a dvd

Yes the boxed version will be out in a week or two, or can just download from simstop - same product, box has a little manual, but it's all in the help (F1) system anyway.

Thanks for the reply Steve, just pre-ordered the boxed version.
One further question, I am using a programme called shade to start FSX, it allows you to alter the weather colours during dawn and dusk flying. I have disabled the weather in IF. Can you list the procedure to use idealflight using the weather settings in shade. hope that makes sense.

Enable or disable IF weather and shade works normally I have been told, but i've just not got that yet.
If you use FSX real world weather, set the IF Cold and Dark settings to Pause or Paused. At the start of the flight set the display setting "Download Winds Aloft" and then in the FSX weather page set your download weather. REX and ASE take care if themselves, just leave IF weather off.

A bit confusing, I have disabled IF weather only at present, when I start FSX I can confirm shade is working but there are no weather patterns at all, regardless of what I change it to on the FSX home page.What else do I have to in IF ?

Options - settings - display - weather: download winds aloft
World - Weather: real World Weather (15m)

I have been testing, after setting IF weather off, I built a flight and pressed Fly!

Once in the sim I pulled down the Alt Menu and:

Options - settings - display - weather: checked download winds aloft

and then:

World - Weather: real World Weather (15m), the jeppeson weather downloaded and I went back into the sim, not very good weather but OK.

Have you not found this?
