So you're saying the feature that previously allowed us to save flights and then, if the sim crashed we could just load it later, will no longer be available in this new build? The IF auto-save flight every 45 minutes or so...

Also, how do you land using ILS with the assists if you can? When you select a runway from the assist page will it just create a GPS approach to the runway? Or does it help you try and land ILS if the runway has it?

No that would not do at all. I said:

That surely means if you have a saved flight from an older version then that will not load in the new version because there are many new features in the save files.

If you use the Assist page to generate a new approach it will be the Computed Approach (as from the Mission page approaches). You can use the AP NAV with GPS to head toward the TDWN waypoint. If there is ILS available you can use the AP NAV HSI (GSI and CDI) and that will perform the landing direction and slope. The auto-throttle is good here to control the descent perfectly timed. Then after touchdown the aircraft will stay on the runway and brakes applied, and spoilers if available.

Oh okay. That won't be an issue for me.

So in short the save flights are still there and the landings are enhanced.

With take-off, enable all the Assist options in the Assist window Set Autopilot Options (have a look in there) and Climb Assist.

Next use the Assist option to place you on the runway, you will be at the runway start and heading in the right way. Then use the CONTROL+SHIFT+S key twice to get into the Auto-Throttle pre-sets.

Then use the CONTROL+SHIFT+N key three times to get to the climb speed pre-set.

The brakes will release and the engines will get you going down the runway. With the climb assist features enabled the aircraft will rotate and the climb begins. The climb rate will allow the aircraft to pick up speed and maintain climb. Before the aircraft is too fast the gear and flaps will retract. The speed will stay reasonable until things are underway. The speed will increase to the speed restriction. When you are above the speed restriction the aircraft will increase speed gradually to the climb speed you set in the Parameters page.

When you say I can use the nav HSI, etc or ILS... does that mean turn approach mode on and it should align automatically if the conditions are met?

Yes, I've been doing ILS approaches all week.

Before setting up the off-runway assist items I went through a complete build of all versions and found a couple of frustrating problems to cause an unforeseen delay which I have now fixed and prevented me adding the off-runway items. I was rather hoping to upload Preview 10 tonight but I will run out of time so will have to wait to upload next week.

All the other things are done. At least I will have a chance to think things through and get a little more tests done and do a proper job of the temporary off-runway items for next week. At this stage it definitely looks on for next week.

After that, as I mentioned earlier, I can concentrate entirely on the AI taxi control for Preview 11.

It's been a very hectic week full of unexpected things so I am looking forward to having a rest this weekend. I appreciate all the support and encouragement.
