You can sort of already do this. Simply go to the sim menu, then in the main sim, click "restart flight monitor." it will then do just that. Not exactly a key, but it works. to reset the sim simply hit control semi from within the sim itself.
There is also the menu option "Restart Flight" which saves going back to Ideal Flight to start a flight. "Restart Monitor" menu item ignores the past movements of the aircraft already recorded.

When using a mouse to press on buttons in the interface, Ideal Flight takes that mouse position to apportion left-right location from the desktop location of the mouse. When running the simulation those sounds are center field.
The in-sim sounds from the position and orientation and flight following should still be left-right-center.

Yes, that would be it. Ideal Flight will be surfacing on the virtual machine it is running on, it can't surface the virtual machine as well.
