Thanks Steve, I will probably create alternate flight plans for the moment, exploring in the process all other possibilities.

If you create prior flight plans to alternates and copy them away, then lastly make the final route, you can pause along that route and replace the main plan, and in the IF: Main Menu, choose Reload Flight Plan. That might do it, but I've not tried. You should find when you contact ATC, they have picked up your new plan with that menu command.

The versions 10.012sj, 10.014fc Special Edition, and 10.015pb Professional, all have the wind speeds and directions enabled in the weather page, even when IF10 weather is deselected. This means the winds can be entered manually for departure and destination, before making a flight. This computes the most likely runways for the flight with the manually entered wind conditions only. There may be other factors when the sim is running that mean ATC could activate a different runway or choose a different one for you. The algorithm uses the methods and data structures ATC uses in the sim to compute a better than 90% correct runway prediction rate.
