It is not an odd question and it has been asked before several times.
It may seem like the aircraft are indexed again but this is not every time you change profiles, only when you change to a profile that does not already have information about new aircraft.
New aircraft are only added to the current profile once. It searches for changes to the installed aircraft and adds new aircraft once. When aircraft are removed they are only removed once, from the current profile.
When you switch to a profile with all current aircraft it does not index again. Each profile maintains a separate set of information about aircraft.
So after you added an aircraft to your sim, you start IF and the aircraft are indexed to find the new aircraft and it adds new aircraft to the current profile. When you change to another profile, those new aircraft are added to that profile at that time. That only happens once.
If you create a new profile it will assume all the current installed aircraft from the initial information. Each new profile starts with the current set of aircraft and going forward maintains separate information about each aircraft for that profile.
Since each profile maintains separate information about the aircraft, if the program was made to add new aircraft to every profile at that time it would take longer by the number of profiles you have.
However, say you add an aircraft to your sim, IF adds it to your profile, but you don't like it and remove it from the sim, then the aircraft is removed from the profile. Switching to another profile will not index the aircraft. If the aircraft had been added to all the profiles it would take longer and then to be deleted from all the profiles takes longer again.
Some profiles might no longer be relevant to you but still remain. If all profiles are updated, a new aircraft would have been added to those profiles as well.
So in the end it is better to only associate new aircraft to the current profile at that time, then only add to other profiles as needed, if and when you change to another profile.
