Hi All,

Unfortunately I got busy on other essential stuff, back onto IF development now.

Remind me not to say I've got the next two weeks to devote as the phone will ring.

New kit installed 9980XE and 9900X systems with NVLinked 2080tis:

Hi Steve,

How's the next build of IF going development wise, now that you're back coding?

Thanks.

Actually I'm doing better than I thought I would, I am still expecting to have something out before Christmas.

Fitting the new systems and having other jobs upset the flow of developing IF things a lot in the last couple of months. But the new kit is essential going forward. Always takes too long to set up new development kit, not the average PC setup.

There's a few things being done to IF other than the speech module. I do have the speech module running well and installing with IF and the basic feature switchable in the main settings. I'm just starting to put in the speaking.

I'm still a blur of activity on IF irrespective of the new sim from MS round the corner. IF is still going out the door with next to no reports of problems.

I send a big thank you to you and the others for testing and feedback, helping the project move along so well.

Regards
Steve

This is excellent and I'm super excited.
It's going to be exciting to see what you can come up with.

I have more or less finished tidying up some routine stuff in IF, mostly handling 4K+ monitors and 32 cores.

I am now putting in the speech module callouts.

Awesome, glad the speech module is back to getting some work. Can't wait.

Even though we're focused on speech things at the moment, I just started with Vatsim and figured I'd chime in with more feature requests. When IF's autoland is implemented, a big thing that Vatsim ground controllers are requesting we do that just simply isn't possible is exiting the runway. They'd prefer if we exited the runway and then request slew/spawn to gate.

Might it be possible for IF to drive down the runway and exit left or right at an appropriate time?

Of course, with the implementation of a form of autotaxi someday my hope is that we won't have to slew or spawn anywhere.

This was just something that came up in the midst of trying Vatsim, and figured I'd mention it.

Yes.

That's all do-able and I expect to tackle that and other situations along the way. Thanks for adding the ideas.

I have the voice system fully operational now. The menus and setting screen offers a new option to make Voice Settings. A new form pops up with several settings available.

Ideal Flight Voice has the the ability to change audio outputs to whichever sound channels you have so that you need not mixdown the voice into the P3D or FSX sounds, which is also an option.

In my tests I'm running the simulator on the main 2.1 speaker system, and outputting the IF Voice into a monitor. Does the same with headphones and so on.

IF Voice can use whichever SAPI voices are installed, usually three or more with Windows 10. The volume and speaking rate are also adjustable.

The Dell 43" multi-input monitor has hdmi attached internal speakers, and is connected to a Humanscale suspension arm. This is perfect for testing multi-channel sounds, has the best adjustable location available, and is awesome for coding:

At the moment Ideal Flight Voice speaks out all the IF messages in the simulation. I may be able to upload the first preview over the next week or so, but it cannot be rushed. System sound integration is a complicated process and requires plenty of testing.

Please note that IF Voice installs only with P3D v4 and Special Edition versions of Ideal Flight.
