The keys in-sim are good enough. Especially because they can be remapped if necessary, and with the voice callouts already telling you what switches are turned on/off and so on. But things like entering headings and speeds should probably go in the assist window, as I have yet to figure out a way to modify those in-sim.

OK Thanks!

In the Assist window you should already be able to set:

Flight Level, Vertical Speed, Nav 1 and 2 frequency, OBS 1 and 2 heading, Heading bug, ADF Compass, and Kohlsman plus the throttle manager speeds.

I've improved the way it works if you set the navigation new plan and also added the ICAO to the parking and runway selection list. I'm still working on that a little.

I'll have a look what else can be arranged.

I haven't had a need to use the throttle manager. Could we control the sim AP speeds as well?

The throttle manager is for aircraft that do not have auto-throttle, but also works with those that do.

At this present time the simulators do not allow control of the auto-throttle installed into aircraft so they are accessed in the normal way on a per aircraft basis due to the different engines and power to weight ratio and so on.

I'm using the Ideal Flight Throttle Manager almost exclusively now, which works on a four second cycle and uses a learning technique to assess the power. It's not perfect but works well, better with lower power aircraft due to acceleration of high power jets for example. It can also be used for taxi and parking speeds for normally sighted users.

At the moment I'm improving the Assist functions and catching some caveats and bugs in there. I'm also including a checkbox window for the setting of the AP functions to go with the controls that set the altitude hold, vertical speed, and the others. Setting DME 1 or 2, AP Master on/off, Heading hold on/off, Nav hold, Approach hold, back course, Altitude, NAV/GPS, maybe some others...

Other improvements are in there to smooth over the use of the new functions. I'll be putting more in the Help (F1) system.

...in the sim we can externally set only the throttle speed hold on and off, and when set to on sets to the current airspeed.

In the IF auto-throttle we can set the speed to the presets or adjust the speed incrementally with the hot keys provided. Also this system automatically sets the parking brake on and off when necessary, and controls the braking when we set a lower speed on the ground. I recommend checking it out.

I got sidetracked today and now have not got time to complete Preview 23 for uploading. 23 has some nice touches but will have to wait till next week now due to unforeseen circumstances. Sorry for the delay.

I might try it, but I pretty much fly the high powered jets such as 737's etc.

Are you still thinking about the possibility of an autotaxi feature, that uses the throttle manager to manage speeds?

Don't necessarily care how it taxi's as long as it doesn't crash into stuff. Leave the spawning there for online flights.

Yes, still hoping to do the taxi stuff. Give the throttle manager a try, works well. Have you tried the guitar plucks?

Yeah, I tried the guitar plucks and they aren't bad I like them.

One issue that we have in general now is takeoff, the rotating and lifting off. We use Tramp to do that, and it tends to take off the same way in each plane by modifying the virticle speed in the sim autopilot. What I'd love to be able for IF to do is help us take off and manage the climb power and when to come back on the power as you climb, but lift off at the correct time. A 777 needs more speed than a 737.
