Possible new features

Hi Steve,

Since FSUIP auto save does not play nice with IF10 would it be possible for IF to save multiple times during a flight?

Additionally I would like to the ability to start a new flight with a completely different aircraft whilst leaving the orginal previous saved flight in place for a future time. Is that possible?

Bryan.

Yes IF10 does both of those things natively.

try this:

Choose a plane and build any flight, start the flight and move the plane to an empty part of the airport. end the flight and at the debrief choose the tick to accept the new location. Choose a new aircraft and you will see the message "save the aircraft and location" accept. Now build another flight and start the flight, trundle over to where you parked your other aircraft - it's still there and you can select it back in IF10 and build the next flight naturally starts from your last location as it would in real life. The main map page shows you locations of your parked aircraft.

You can set the flight to be saved at intervals save flight and pause sim, see Setting page In-Flight timer intervals.

Hi Steve,

So I could have one flight saved mid flight (in air), and another flight parked on ground, and could return to either flight and resume them from where they were last saved?

It is kept fairly straightforward that generally you need to finish a flight to park the plane to build the next flight for it from its parked location.

It's a reasonable idea to save any number of unfinished flights for later completion, but it could potentially store a lot of files and come with complications and implications for the user to finish them or clear them up and so on and so forth so it's not been done like that.

You could save a flight half way and swap to another profile to start another flight, go back to the original profile to continue the half way flight.

...a couple of BE58s I just parked at an unused section of KDEN (P3Dv3):

I'm currently in the Blue one ready for the next flight, parked next to the Red one I stole earlier.

Lol....Better get that little red number sprayed up fast

I agree with you about the difficulty of users keeping track of saved games, but what if IF10 could prefix saved games by type of aircraft in use, or something similar?.

Bryan.

Keeping any number of different sets of saved games would be the easy part.

...thinking it through how does this sound? You would leave a flight part completed. Then back in IF10 you see the CD button enabled to start from your saved position as usual, it works as normal. However, you could pull up a menu and store that flight for later, and from there you could replace it and choose an old saved flight from a list. Now the stored flight is set into IF10, this places your "self" at the departure airport from that stored flight. The flight can be continued or a new flight can be built from there as usual. Seems do-able, but on the down-side for example changes to scenery or setup could cause issues for older stored flights.

Hi Steve,

Been messing about using two different profiles for two flights.

Works well, but the only problem is when launching a different flight with the new profile, the original flight plan is overwritten by IF.

So if a way could be found to prevent that I would be happy, maybe with an option to pre select an option similar to Fsuip which can save to a specific file name using the autosave function.
