Soaring and sailplanes

Postby Steve Waite » Tue Sep 22, 2015 11:27 am

Check out soaring over coastlines, small peninsulas, towns, lakesides. Look out the window for places of hot next to cold. On IF10 Weather page set winds to face into mountain ridges. Set flight plans for return trips, or new destinations as usual. When in the sim, placing the aircraft using the map does not effect the flight recording and score rating, as long as the landing is completed by the pilot. Make sure Thermal and Ridge effects are enabled on the IF10 Weather page.

Feedback appreciated. :D

Thanks for all the feedback!

Next version IF10 (all versions, [sj], [fc], and [pb]), there's a new menu item in-sim. The Gain Altitude item adds 1000ft to the user aircraft altitude, instantly and there's no going back unless already saved flight.

I've been flying gliders with this and I've been starting by going to various altitudes and flying the route as far as possible, adding more height as I need, advancing to next waypoint, and so on. Been good fun.

The altitude gain increment can be overridden in the settings.ini file.
