Destination airport - scoring?

Postby Brent » Mon Sep 07, 2015 7:32 pm

Hi Steve

Just wondering if IF assesses (and scores) whether or not I land at my flight plan destination.

Can I land at a 'nearby airport' as an alternate and have IF successfully assess my trip?

Cheers!

Hi Brent, sure - go fly anywhere the scoring is the same.

...if you're worried about a score, save the flight just before exit, and if it's marked down unreasonably, reload the flight and uncheck some of the Evaluation menu items before exiting again.

That's great! Using an alternate never occurred to me before yesterday, when I was landing at a strip in northern British Columbia where the cloud deck was at about 600' AGL and the airport was surrounded by mountains....took me a few tries to get her down without bending my KingAir

It will be much more realistic and satisfying to select one of the alternates and deviate to a new destination. :ugeek:

I don't worry too much about the score but I didn't want to mess with 3 years of using Ideal Flight!

Still one of the best applications I've bought for FSX!! :D

Thanks for the kind words Brent. But yes, it would be nice to have plans made up on the fly as we decide to fly to another destination. For example an emergency route to the nearest compatible strip was always on the to-do list, just not had time to include it so far.
