Feature request

Postby johnbla » Thu Nov 06, 2014 2:11 am

Hi

I am using Windows 8 and I suffer from the dreaded joystick drop outs, so I have enabled my Saitek yoke through FSUIPC. I have unticked "enable controller" and have removed all axis and buttons associated with my joystick in FSX. For some unknown reason, it would appear that my fsx.cfg file does not always save this setting. I have also heard of other guys on different forums having the same problem. So when I start IF, I always have to go into controls of FSX after start and ensure that this is unchecked. Often the plane is going crazy by this time.

I am therefore wondering if it is possible to add an enable controller checkbox in IF somewhere.

Many thanks
John

SO what you are describing is that if the joysticks are lost in FSX the controller checkbox is set by FSX to show disabled (no check). So when FSX starts again the controllers are already off.

What I can do is get IF10 to ensure the joystick setting is already on when you start FSX from IF10, or even just run IF10 will set it up.

Currently in IF10 Config.ini we can set some things to do stuff that FSX unsets, FSLOD and FSTEX. I will add FSJOY to force the joysticks to ON.

C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Config\Config.ini

[FSSetup]
FSLOD=4.500000 <<-- this sets [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
FSTEX=1024 <<-- this sets [GRAPHICS] TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024
FSJOY=True <<-- this sets [CONTROLS] JOYSTICKS=1 and will force on the FSX joysticks when you run IF10

Thanks for the suggestion. This will appear in version [sh] out soon. I will probably upload a preview in the new builds section soon.

Steve

I was thinking maybe a checkbox (if possible) to allow the user to set the joystick on or off. I need the joysticks to be set to OFF when I start FSX. This setting doesn"t interfere with the FSUIPC joystick setting. If I am not clear, please let me know and I will try to explain in more detail.

...I will make that work on all versions of IF10, >augmented not required for this setting.

Yes that's OK. The new setting will also force joysticks to OFF if required

FSJOY=False <<-- this sets [CONTROLS] JOYSTICKS=0

FSJOY= <blank> <<-- will do nothing to the fsx.cfg [CONTROLS] JOYSTICKS= setting.

For this version we will have to edit the IF10 Config.ini with notepad.
