Navdata

Postby reecemj » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:37 am

Hi Steve got a question for you. I use IF,EFB, and reality xp. Sometimes there are way points missing or different. Is there a way to get all 3 to have the same navdata?

Thanks
Reece

Yes, if you set EFB and RealityXP to use the sim data since at the moment IF only uses the sim scenery data.

If you want to use NavData from Navigraph or NavDataPro then your aircraft must have an FMC with the same data set, and all addons must have the same data set, however FSX ATC does not support it so you really need an addon ATC with the same data set.

In the coming upgraded version [sf], add-in NavData is supported with additional features; for example the data can be reduced to a subset reflecting only what is available in your sim scenery and in the add-in data, this also exports files to the FMC.

The common airports between the installed sim scenery and the AIRAC data, can be chosen from the drop down list in flight gen. The globe icon displays a blue North compass needle for Simulator or scenery biased data, and a red North compass needle for pure AIRAC data.

I've compared the simdata (left) with the current AIRAC (right). There are other routes but IF chose these at that time. Generally the original sim nav data has much richer and varied routes, much more airports and navs, but latest AIRAC data is a lot better than a few years ago. If you like, IF makes plans using the AIRAC data mixed with the real sim runway altitudes and lat lons etc. so you won't land in an old shopping mall since knocked down to build a runway.

IF chooses routes depending on the expected runways in use, IF can easily be wrong choosing runways since the sim is not running when IF makes the choice. Runways can be hand chosen in the Edit Plan function in Flight Gen.

I would like to stay with the sim data. So I would have EFB and RealityXP use the simdata right? But I guess with the different navdata the three won't line up and i don't know how to get other 2 to use sim scenery data. I fly GA at this time so no need for the FMC. Thanks for the information.

Although IF 'only' uses the sim navaids and airports until the update v. [sf], IF can still import any plan you make (between two airports that exist in the sim and the navdata loaded in EFB), waypoints are reconstructed by 'IF' if they don't exist in the sim, and work with EFB etc. except that without an FMC you will have plenty of VORS and NDBS that don't tune.
