"My" carrier model is just the simple one that comes with the sim, there's a full-on one comes with acceleration

look for

C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles\boats.ini

add:
veh_carrier01_high_detail_sm, Detailed Carrier, 0.1

there is already:
VEH_carrier01, Carrier, 0.1

0.1=fraction of full speed

...next run IF and in Missions & Vessel Landings check "Sea Searches" and "Detailed Carrier".

..OK this is what happens now for missions with no specific distance
- the fuel is set for a percentage full load with DefFuelAmount

settings.ini:
DefFuelAmount=20 = 20% of full tanks when you have a non specified distance.

The coming upgrade to the Missions includes extra controls for this sort of stuff.

Steve,

I've noticed that the fuel is now reduced but doesn't honour the reserve or taxi amounts (using sc) which generally wont give me enough fuel for a return trip from a carrier landing.

OK i'm preparing [sd] and looking at that again
It's the freeflight fuel quantity mucking around.
I'm making the DefFuelAmount set the fuel for the FreeFlights where no destination is assigned.
I'm adding the taxi+reserve.
The MinFuel Amount is to ensure some slops in the tanks for some aircraft don't like zero fuel.
I'll see if I can improve that for [sd] assuming I don't break anything else.
Also I want to ensure that a circular route distance is taken into account when you start and end at the same airport with an external added plan.
Thanks again for helping with this one.

from the Help:

Empty Fuel Tanks: There is always a slight amount of fuel to be found in empty tanks. MinFuelAmount=10% has been set as the minimum value: Some aircraft can experience engine running problems starting up with totally empty tanks. DefFuelAmount=20% for Free Flights: Free Flight fuel is calculated from the maximum trip time on the Flight Generator page. See Settings.ini file

[FlightParams]
DefFuelAmount=20
MinFuelAmount=10

Hi Brent,

I hope this is better:

http://download.codelegend.com/idealflight/Ideal_Flight_Setup_10_011sd.zip

When choosing a free flight mission, fuel = taxi + reserve + maxflighttime (for searches)

Steve
That version works great! Had a nice flight and trapped and catapulted using the Acceleration carrier and VRS Superbug - lots of fun!

Incidentally, the TACAN channel for the Acceleration carrier is 47X and the ILS frequency is 111.95 which makes the landing pattern and glide slope a lot easier to accomplish.

Thanks,

Brent

Steve
Did another landing and noticed that although I had success landing on the carrier and returning to base I did not receive double points.

Ship Landings: Landing on a Ship and returning safely in an Ideal Flight mission, counts as two flights, and double points.

Not that I'm greedy, just thought you should know there may be a problem. ;)

Cheers
