Check the Aircraft Flight Parameters, adjust the altitude, speed, and range.
After a flight you will have a better value for range in the assessment. During the flight there is the fuel report menu item, find out your Range.
When you can't go so high, or climb so fast, adjust your parameters and you will find the performance of the "simulated aircraft", this may not be the same as the real aircraft.
A lot of satisfacton can be had getting hard-to-meet ETA's without overspeed, repeat the same route until you are slick.
