Starting FSX first then loading IF

Postby Mike Cameron » Wed Mar 21, 2012 6:56 pm

I tried looking for this on the forum and with the online help but could not find anything. I have some aircraft that work better when I load a default aircraft at Friday Harbor first, then load that aircraft. Is it possible to start FSX first with the aircraft I want to use then have IF generate a flight using that aircraft. The Flight 1 182T works better this way and other aircraft work better after loading a default FSX aircraft first.

Thanks,
Mike Cameron

Hi there,

I guess you should start IF with the "X" and not the "fly" button, this way you are sent to the FSX menu, start a flight the way you usually do (load a default plane, then the right one, etc) then you can start the IF flight within FSX from the Addon dropdown menu. Steve will correct me if I'm wrong :)

Cheers

Thanks Fede, that makes sense, I am still using the demo and I think the "x" option is not available with the demo. I love the program but I am unemployed right now so purchase is not really an option for the time being. I guess I will use other aircraft that can be loaded without loading the default start up first.

Thanks,
Mike Cameron

thanks Fede,
I'm sorry that the X button is not available in demo mode Mike. Best wishes to you - job hunting...

Steve
I just tried this because I have a few aircraft that are difficult to start from cold and dark unless a default ac is loaded first (eg. Cessna Mustang, Lotus L-39). Not sure if I'm doing it correctly though.

1. Create a flight plan in IF
2. Use the X button to start with the FSX main menu
3. Load default aircraft and starting location
4. Load aircraft indicated in IF plan
5. On IF Addon menu, use the restart IF Monitor command (is this the right one!?).

A couple of questions:
1. Where should I load the IF plan in that sequence?
2. When I restart the IF monitor, the correct payload and fuel as indicated in the IF plan aren't being loaded into the aircraft.
3. Still having problems with starting cold and dark unless I use the FSX Ctl e command.

Thanks for any insight

I would try those aircraft with IF and not worry about loading a default aircraft, give me an example of your aircraft I probably have them here I will try...

If you do want FSX started with a default aircraft - simply start FSX on it's own.

Now run IF - build flights - press Fly! Button, FSX (already running) loads the IF flight

...when you start FSX alone it will load the default flight, even if the menu pages come up first.

Try this: Start FSX then build a flight then press the IF Fly! button.

Once in the sim, set up all your panels and views and from the pulldown addon menu choose IF: Main Menu - Save Aircraft Settings. exit FSX.

Back in IF continue to build routes but now try Fly! without loading FSX first - should work.

So far I've had problems starting from cold and dark in the F1 Cessna Mustang and Lotus L-39...the workaround is to just hit Ctl-E (but that's no fun  )

Engines won't start? The aircraft is being started from a .FLT that FSX creates. it must be able to work correctly - just a matter of which setting is causing the problem.

Check out the C&D settings Paused/Pause, fuel loaded, engine items, etc.

There is a section on aircraft problems in the Help. Have you tried setting load to zero? Even fuel load?
magneto generator battery

don't know how many hundreds of addon planes I've got but I don't have either of these:
F1 Cessna Mustang and Lotus L-39

which should I get for the best testing...
