Steve,
I noticed something today while flying a different aircraft with IF that I had been having troubles which were similar to the Mustang - the LotusSim L-39 (military jet trainer). After thinking about the issue with the fuel cut-off on the Mustang I remembered that the L-39 has a similar device in the cockpit.

When I loaded FSX without IF and then loaded my default C172 cold and dark scenario and then loaded the L-39 the fuel cut-off was disabled and I was able to startup the L-39 according to flight procedures(see below).

When I loaded the IF scenario and FSX the fuel cut-off was visibly enabled preventing me from starting the engine (below).

I would guess that something in the IF .pln file (or any others used to start the flight) are affecting the fuel cut-off device. This is similar to the Mustang except that you can't see it so obviously with that aircraft.

My IF cold and dark setting had only the parking brake, a/c fuelled and knee-board checked.

Regards,
Brent

what do you think of this: i just installed the L-39 and started up a flight with IF and it looks like your top picture, red lever in the forward position

IF ensures 100% prop for the start of a .FLT and the L-39 shutoff lever responds to the prop lever control axis.

Sometimes the prop lever starts shut but then as soon as I touch a control it opens.

I will see what can be done.

OK I believe that's all fixed now - the mix and prop settings were left at zero when choosing cold engines - they should have been set normally.

Thanks Brent great job.

Thanks for starting this subject Mike, I wonder if it has helped you?

Hey guys,

...I just read a note in the PMDG intro manual:

• There is a common misconception that when loading a complex
simulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load the
default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX.
This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommend
the practice at all.

Incidently; their 737 still messes around with the handbrake on my system set to 100%. It is now set to 99.99% which seems more reliable with the PMDG, and is a good enough indicator of HANDBRAKE_ON for all aircraft.

Steve
I remember seeing the same note in the manual. I really like the way PMDG have handled setting up the NGX re: fuel, payload and system options.

Conversely, Flight 1 recommend that you use their start-up file for the Mustang (which loads the trike at Friday Harbour) before loading the Mustang!

I haven't tried the NGX with IF yet but had a flight with the Eaglesoft Citation X 750 v2 and all went well. Like the Mustang it also has a fuel cut-off on the throttles.

I presume you can adjust the prop lever to open the fuel valve?
Anyhow seems all good to go now. Look out for the update any doy now, just waiting for the German rating system before boxing up IF.
Thanks again.
