So here's the thread to discuss preview 16.

Overall pretty solid and I say release ASAP.

While I don't use the browse airports dialogue often, I did try to browse airports around my current location. While this is also possible from the flight generator, I wanted to look at it for testing purposes if nothing else to see if there were any bugs there.

There is a huge performance problem on this page. When pressing the search button to search airports it lags a bit, but the biggest issue I have is selecting airport group. Whether it be favorite airports, subset airports, etc. The lag is tolerable with NVDA but I'd prefer it not exist. Narrator is another beast entirely. Pressing search made Narrator appear to hang on my system. I couldn't get speech for at least 5-10 seconds, maybe longer, in the IF window, and I know it doesn't take that long to perform a search. I thought it had crashed, but I went away from the IF window and it was fine. Narrator will start to perform okay again, but as soon as I select another airport group and perhaps perform another search, those are the huge performance issues.

Otherwise, fantastic, solid release. There are other ways of doing what specifically I wanted last night E.G. flight generator, but the browse airports dialogue is a cool way to see all airports in the sim, should you choose to, and change your departure and destination respectively.

I'm not seeing that with NVDA. I'm just going to test with Narrator...

Narrator seems OK. The search list output was in the hundreds on an older PC, no abnormal delays. Remember a search is through 25K airports. I'm not seeing more than a few seconds.

What I'm seeing is perhaps 6 or 7 seconds or so in the worst places. That's to be expected with the functions that change the underlying selection such as the groups..

Also looking into that enquiry. I have been evaluating which parts take longer to show, the acquisition of airport mapping from the file system is part of the time taken.

The change in the groups results in a search through the scenery, which includes add-ons.

Not all add-on's files are easily and quickly searched for airports. Simply having many add-on airports presents a problem to searches, including the load time we see creep up in the simulator itself as it assesses the addons when it starts up.

Ideal Flight keeps an index after changes to the scenery so that searches can be made quickly without increasing the time Ideal Flight takes to run no matter how many add-ons are attached.

The acquisition of map data might not be completely necessary there when screen readers are active, so I am considering what can be done. I'm not sure that is much more than a second or two in the big lists.

I'm hoping to improve the time that the reader takes to report the group item selected. Rather than leave it till the page is fully recreated for an airport in the list under that group.

Incidentally regarding the latest Narrator versions, these should be a lot better in use while editing and placing the cursor.

I've found a way to improve that a little. One problem being the way readers read out each item as we traverse the list. In the next version I will change some dropdowns to work in a better way. A program that was specifically designed for readers would be a little different, so I'll make some changes to suit that where possible.

The group list box is best traversed with page up down and end home. Then use cursor arrow keys. It is problematic when these contain many items since the screen reader captures all the active window, the Active window being each individual item in the list. In this version I've improved how that works in Preview 17. In the next version the way these work is likely to change a little.

On the Exports form, the Note descriptive texts were not updated.

..the note was not properly active in Narrator mode with file types selected.
