Trouble with runway parameters again

Postby Orinks » Tue Jul 09, 2019 12:57 am

So the next flight in my tour is KMSP to KMCO.

I am getting a route compatibility warning for destination runway and I haven't changed any aircraft parameters.

Current min runway length is 5000 and width length is 50, the same it's always been.

In the briefing, the current runways are listed as:

Runways 18L/36R: Tarmac, Length 11640 ft, Width 179 ft
Runways 18R/36L: Tarmac, Length 11640 ft, Width 179 ft
Runways 17R/35L: Tarmac, Length 9697 ft, Width 179 ft
Runways 17L/35R: Tarmac, Length 8727 ft, Width 179 ft

Given the values are minimum for the parameters, the length and width should be fine in this case?

Thanks.

I'm building flights to KMCO no problems. Another way to get route compatibility warning for destination runway is that it is higher in altitude than the plane can handle. Did you override the altitude with a typo?

Best thing to do when you hit a snag with a build; load up another profile and build the same flight with the defaults. With the Mooney (or B58 FSX) you can land at practically any airport, so the worst warning you would see is 'out of range' for long routes.

They are only warnings shown on the briefing, so they won't prevent your flight commencing. I'll be going all through those and double checking it.

If you can give me the estimated landing weight and the size of the aircraft, it may be close to the mark on size and weight for the runways or taxiways there.

It's just a warning that you are close or over. The parameters for ultimate sizes and weights allowed are adjustable in Settings.ini. Perhaps I might be able to adjust those in the program defaults for a better fit at some airports?

Ok. Leave that for the time being and let's see how it goes in future.

What I've done is massage the values. What happens is that at some airports the estimate is a bit pessimistic. I've changed things to give more weighting to the actual length width of all the runways possible at the airport.

...I found another problem with that. You can restart IF and it has not saved something that means it comes up with the warning. That's fixed too. It could have been that you were seeing. Should be a bit better in future.
