...But in the end all the Administrative logs I've seen all say the same thing;

kernel thread zero has encountered an unavailable resource that has been artificially limited by the user.

What this means is not that the user has gone and adjusted some setting, but rather, the action of an installed device has upset the way windows expects a resource to be delivered.

I've spent a lot of time explaining how this kind of stuff works. It should be clear from those logs that Ideal Flight is the program that enables us to locate issues in the sim or system, not the other way around. It's a tool I could not do without.

I'm still hearing about this affliction from the same few users that reported it at the same time and I still have no idea what's going on.

There's been several IFs going out a week at a constant rate and no reports in my mail or on the forum other than concerning the loose ends around while work being done to add accessibility for the screen readers - and that's a lot of work.

If I am to help with this problem we need to follow a line of enquiry that does not include randomly re-installing and deleting folders and files in IF - that will not work. Maybe that traditionally works with scenery and other addons but IF is not a collection of files run by the sim it is an application that utilises every part of the sim. If it's not right there will be a result in one of the logs, or IF will back out. If it sees an error in a file, it backs out. if it thinks there's a security error, it backs out. If it can't receive simconnect data, it backs out.

When it backs out it is because a problem exists that is not expected. If it can be replicated here I can fix it if it's IF. If it's not IF then maybe I can put some measures in like a work-around, or I can pop up a message about system compatibility.

Until I have something to go on, it's a waste of time other than to put the PC back to when IF worked:

In IF delete the five folders in the data directory:
C:\Users\All Users\Ideal Flight Professional
Config
Flight
Index
Log
Profiles

Then when you next run IF it reports it has just been installed and is as fresh as a baby.

...and if you have not run a registry cleaner it will remember the registration and you need not reregister. If you cleaned the registry or wiped Windows then the backup profiles config folder contains the registration details. This will not work on another PC or another copy of Windows.

In the IF log it ends at different places, and in the Admin log the system does not record Ideal Flight or any of the systems attached in the crash. There is no way a regular exe app can crash the system anyway. It might invoke a resource that at some stage later takes down the system, after some processing, but that's not an IF issue.

Limited to such a small and unique group, it should be very easy to explain why this is happening, I am sure.

...A Jaws specific driver apparently misbehaves and crashes the PC with a BSOD just after IF paints 25 images for jpegs. Disable Jaws or use another reader when building flights. I'm attempting to re-organise the painting process during the flight build to allow Jaws to continue.

So I had rearranged some things and had been building flights all night with no crashes. Then out of the blue Jaws crashed my dev PC without warning near the end of the flight build there were just a couple of route images missing so it nearly completed, not quite. I don't know what it was that I had done, I had googled something I think that was all, the IF program was unchanged. Has anyone seen IF build some flights OK with Jaws at all?

Seems like something else could be involved as I mentioned before. And that makes it a little more tricky to avoid.

This may be a radical suggestion, but would it be possible to add an option to simply disable image generation altogether? As totally blind users, we certainly don't need them. Obviously, generating images would be a default.

I think it has everything to do with the driver. Disabling the driver and using any other reader seems to fix it as long as the FS accessibility display driver is disabled. Even with Jaws not running, if that driver is on it'll crash. If I had known this, I would've disabled the driver and not reformat my PC because the reason why it had been working after a reset was because Jaws was uninstalled and no driver.

On the settings page you can uncheck the sections with pictures and in the mission page approaches checkbox window more settings, you can uncheck the building of the route maps as well. I will see about an overall switch-off for images. But what I thought was to not change anything too much as the Jaws driver will most likely get fixed as it's a burden to any PC so it's going to be reported the hit on performance is bad.

I am adding an option to remove the images. Regarding that kind of thing, it was mentioned that the making of videos means that the display of the maps may still be desirable as it is to have eye candy in the simulator.
