...Anyone with the RXP Garmins can set the IF GTN export plan object to output to the folder:

"C:\ProgramData\Garmin\GTN Trainer Data\GTN\FPLN"

The non-vol location for user waypoints reset is unchanged.

Hi Steve,

I recently got the RXP GTN 750 and noticed that although IF exports correctly the IF.gfp to the directory specified, the user waypoints file is not exported in the same folder. For example,

my path for the Garmin trainer Databases is:
H:\FSX\Garmin\TrainerData\Databases\

I have created the
H:\FSX\Garmin\TrainerData\Databases\FPLN\
folder and set it at IF export settings. IF automatically exports IF.gfp in this folder and GTN is able to import the plan.

But it exports the waypoints file inside the
H:\FSX\Garmin\TrainerData\Databases\
folder with the file name "userwpt.txt".

I have to manually copy the file to FPLN folder and rename it to "user.wpt", because only then is the GTN able to import the custom waypoints. It does not import from "userwpt.txt".

Hi there,

I'll check it out. Are you sure you put the right paths in both export items?

...in the folder C:\ProgramData\Garmin\GTN Trainer Data\GTN do you see the user.wpt shortcut? That shows the location of userwpt.txt. In that folder should be userwpt.txt which is where IF puts it. You also enable the userwaypoints item in the exports functions that resets the nonvol database to accept the waypoints.

...could it be that RXP alter the behaviour of the folders somehow different to the Flight 1 issue GTN? If so I can put in an Export Item to support the RXP explicitly...

Hmm, there is no user.wpt shortcut. Should IF have created it?
Anyway I could create that shortcut manually instead of copying the file every time.

In the Export setting I have only 1 item/location set:
Flight 1 GTN 750/650 .gfp
that points to the "H:\FSX\Garmin\TrainerData\Databases\FPLN\" folder

and in the "export settings" page I have the 3 "Flight 1 GTN" options enabled:
Flight 1 GTN 750/650: User waypoints (Coordinates)
Flight 1 GTN 750/650: Coordinate Waypoints
Flight 1 GTN 750/650: Coordinate Airports

Having only the above item/location set, IF exports both the .gfp and the userwpt.txt fies.

The shortcut appears with the installation of the Garmin and serves as a pointer to the folder for the userwpt.txt file.

Can you also enable the userwaypoint export item, but before that can you backup the nonvol DB if you use it to collect your own waypoints. Since IF has to refresh it each time with waypoints because there are many the same name no matter what the route.

I didn't click with what you said before: "user.wpt" is that not the shortcut?

Perhaps that's the problem since IF exports the waypoints file userwpt.txt and that is linked with the shortcut "user.wpt".
