Hi Steve, run into a problem whilst using the kneeboard with IF. When flight is loaded using IF briefing is visible in kneeboard, but after saving the flight using IF's pull down menu the briefing disappears.

Tks in advance.

Bryan.

Hi Bryan,

Do you have the latest update from the Preview discussion, New Builds section? Which version IF10 are you using, FSX or P3D?

...also check you don't have FSUIPC autosave on if you have it...

Look's like FSUIPC autosave was the problem, had to restart FSX because of crash and kneeboard was populated again.

One other question about using IF, I saved my parked position after a flight using the pull down menu, but when I restarted the flight using IF the flight started from the active runway.

Could that be FSUIPC again?

Thanks for the quick support.

p.s Using IF version 10.014fd

Bryan.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for letting me know. When FSUIPC saves the flight it actually saves under a new flight name, and so the briefing and the plan will be left hanging because they are still associated with the original flight name. FSUIPC to keep the situation the same should either autosave as the current flight name running, or along with the save it could save the current plan and briefing to suit the saved flight it has made.

With regard to the starting locations, if you set the Active Runway starting position on the Flight Generator page the parked position is not picked up for the flight since we start on a runway. If we park in a location without an official parking space that will be deemed private parking. Have a look in the pull down menu on the flight gen page and choose your parking spot to start from.

Regards
Steve

...also you may want to update to preview 11, a dl link can be found on the Preview discussion page, New Builds section. They are fully working versions, just run the setup.exe and choose update, then when you start IF10 allow a reindex. Further improvements are coming with pre 12 which i'll be uploading soon.

Thanks Steve, I have done as you suggested and upgraded the latest build [fe] pre 11, but it hasn't sorted another problem that I am having, which is FSX crashing on each flight whilst using IF.

Crash occurs when accessing the kneeboard, but can also occur when accessing the gps via pop out. Aircraft is the RealAir Duke version 1.

CTD's that's not going to be IF10. You can prove it by loading the IF10 flight file "ideal_flight.flt" direct from Explorer (Open with...) from the FSX\Docs folder so that FSX is not started by IF10 and see what happens with the very same flight then.

But I am wondering if you have placed a copy of UIAutomationCore.dll v6.0.5840.16386 in your FSX folder? Look in administrator events for the error. Current 64bit OSs system version of UIAutomationCore.dll Is not compatible with FSX - see the UIAutomationCore.dll discussion in the Installation section, there's a link to download the compatible version there.

Hi Steve, looks like I might have solved the problem (Touch wood). Read numerous posts on your advice regarding that pesky .dll but I think my problem was the VRS Tackpack on my machine had expired and that seemed to be causing some kind of conflict.....PHEW!

Anyhow, I have a question for you, I recently planned a flight with the option to have an ils available at destination airport but was given a runway without an ils instead.

Any ideas?

Bryan.

Yes your planned route may have included an airport with an ILS available, but the weather needs to be right to land on that runway. Set your winds on the weather page before building a flight if you want to be sure to get a particular desired ILS approach.
