Big Install Problem!

Postby Turambar » Fri Jun 03, 2016 7:25 pm

Hi Steve,

I've got a major problem. I've reinstalled Win10 and so I had to reinstall IF as well. Now there's my problem: my original IF Pro version dates from August 2015, where there was only P3D 2.5
So now there's the problem: this version doesn't recognise P3D 3.(3). So updating with your pb versions don't work either. As I mentioned before I get errors like 'can't create config.ini' and/or 'can't save config.ini 'etc.

Is there a newer basic Pro version available which does recognize P3D v3 and higher? What will happen if I purchase IF Pro through Flight1? Same problem?

KR and thanks for helping me out!

Sounds like a permissions problem on your system. A couple of guys have had issues when upgrading to Win10, depends on the modifications made to the system.

No need to get any other version than [pb] pre_18

Install that and before running IF10 Pro, open explorer, go to:
"C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10 Professional"

right-click choose Properties, choose Security Tab, press Edit, select the Users group, check the Modify permission box, see that Write is also enabled, Apply, OK.

Then run IF10 Pro, and drop your IF10 backup onto it.

The Flight1 wrapper contains the v2 only version [pa], v3 support is included in [pb] versions...

...also don't keep registering it when installing/uninstalling, instead keep a backup of the profiles with the backup data function in the popup menu on the front page, or when offered during installing/uninstalling. Since pre_17 the registration data is mirrored in the registry so if you lose the registration data file it will be re-made when you run IF10 Pro.

So I followed your lead and no errors now. But...
When I try to activate my copy it says 'Activation Limit Exceeded'. And the reactivation page at Flight1 doesn't send me an email link for reactivation. Thus a ticket was created and I fear I'll have to wait for the weekend to pass before getting help from them...

We'll see; I'll let youi know, Steve. Have a nice and warm sunday tomorrow!

Seems odd you needed to set the permission, could be an error in Windows dacls. The registrations are limited to 5 but you don't need to re register, just restore your backup - the file is in the Config folder.

...for anyone having problems regarding Windows security with these simulator apps (P3D), I recommend reading the system installation instructions: Installing Prepar3D v2/3 for tips on avoiding Windows security problems in future.

I'm afraid the IF backup (my fault!) is dated 16.02.2015; so that doesn't do the job...
So still have to wait...

sorry about that Theo, I hope they get your registration back up asap, nothing I can do to accelerate that unfortunately.
