I would have gone in straight with the DA42 and IF!

Sorry Steve, I didn't think of doing it that way because I won't fly it like that. But I think I see where you are going with this. Anyways, I installed, what I consider to be the very least amount of addons and I'm back to square one. I really don't believe it. It crashes just like it did before. I give up for now.

The excersise was to discover if your DA42 is affected by another addon aircraft, perhaps one that shares the GPS or something. We know FSX will crash with just loading the .FLT so it is just something that is invoked with the DA42 that is causing it.

If you just stuck on the DA42 and tried it first you would now have some idea if it works properly. My DA42 works lovely. Have you tried different flight gen settings, like a flight with no plan included?

I suppose we are back to square one now?

Have you tried the DA42 in other locations with other destinations? All the FSX crashes I've attended to so far have been to do with scenery problems or tweaks.

Here's another idea:
Build a flight with IF. Then build as similar a flight and plan with FSX as possible, adding load and fuel, using same locations etc. Test them both, see if the FSX file works.
Then compare the two .FLT's as I did here, I changed things around but could not get FSX to crash. Either .FLT worked fine.
Perhaps instead you can change a few differences between files until you find FSX does not crash?
Sounds long winded though.

I will get the DA42 out later and mess around a bit more to see if I can get any fsx crashing.

Another idea came to mind:
The DA42 is a Glass Panel, and requires more resourses.
We know that loading the fully configured IF flight, even without IF running, crashes only on your FSX, mine is OK, and no other reports. This could be caused by "Tweaking" fsx.cfg, as I mentioned before.
Have you made sure to try a default fsx.cfg?
All the best;

Don't panic, I found the problem, more later...
In the meantime try loading the N242ES

The solution is to paste these two lines into just the one file:

Default_Default.ini

Code: Select all
[Window.1]
CurrentCamera={C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078}

Found in:

(Vista+) C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles\Setups\Default_Default.ini

(XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ideal Flight 10\Profiles\Setups\Default_Default.ini

Then start generating flights and Fly!

It does not seem to be a problem with all the DA42 variations. It may be something in the aircraft.ini.
I've included a fix in the next version of IF.
