Runway arrival changes in flight plan

Postby Dags » Tue Sep 18, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi again Steve,

Kind of a follow up to a previous question issue regarding the manual edits of flight plans.

So I am using IF10 with AS 2012 and try to plan my dept/arrival according to the winds.
I get the weather and try to edit the flight plan (by selecting the "Edit" button, selecting appropriate runways, and then entering a blank line in the FP to ensure it updates the ingame GPS with APPR routes).

What seems to happen a lot, is anytime I modify the arrival runway, my briefing will give the right arrival, but in game, the flight plan will have me land at the original runway. This is causing me to alter my APPR waypoints in-game.

It's not a game breaker, but it is frustrating.

It would also be nice to be able to zoom in on the briefing screen waypoints to see exactly where the APPR waypoints are, without having to start FSX.

A final note, I do have weather disabled in IF.

So you are saying that if you edit the runways by changing the runways from the Edit Plan button the destination approach is not that of the runway you asked for?

I'm just not seeing that happen

if you look in the briefing at the end of each airport section the proposed destination runway is shown:

Arrive: RWY 34R, LDA 11894ft, ALT 433ft, HDG 341.34°, ILS 110.30MHz
AA 2200 ft, MA 5000 ft

When you rebuild the flight check the Arrive: line in the briefing to see it matches the runway you chose.

That's the strange thing. when I do make the change to the destination runway, it comes up in the briefing all right, but in game the If flight plan has the APPR WP leading into the wrong runway (usually only uses the original "default" runway).

It only happens when I manually change a destination runway. Now it doens't do this every single time, but almost 9/10 times I change the arrival runway, the 4 point APPR WP will be leading to the wrong runway.

I don't remember this before, since I used IF weather system, but with AS2012, I need to use the correct runway or have the nasty experience of landing with possible tailwind, and since I love flying GA, I use the APPR WP to setup my landing.

Thanks again Steve!

Like I mentioned before, I don't remmber seeing this before since I was using IF for weather generation so there was never a need to change destination runway.

I'll keep a lookout for future updates.

Hi Dags,

I have modified IF to cope with the runway changes and edited plan at the same time.

However:
It is better to first rebuild the route with only the runway changes. Then once your runways are chosen, rebuild again to show the waypoints by editing the plan. This ensures the plan is built between the correct departure and approach.

[se4] preview test version uploading soon.
