IF crashing FSX on loading a new flight plan

Postby skids » Tue Sep 18, 2012 6:56 am

Steve, sorry to be a pain,

I used the IF and landed/saved etc. Upon loading a completely new flight plan continuing from where the last one finished with the same aircraft, I hit fly (the blue plane) and FSX crashed. Toaday while going through the steps with Roger and James Allen, it just closed FSX down?

We're not seeing issues like this unless there is an inherant problem with the FSX installation. For example I had an issue with the PMDG panel state which simply crashed FSX as it started up.

Another more frequent example problem is scenery, as soon as you come within a certain range of corrupt scenery, fsx crashes.

You can check the .FLT and .PLN, they will be in the docs\fsx folder, open the flight file in explorer with fsx to run the flight without IF running.

All IF does is launch FSX from the command line with:
"fsx.exe ideal_flight.flt"

IF also sends FSX a request for a tiny packet of periodic information from the sim via the network, there's really nothing IF can do to cause your problem.

ideal_flight.flt is a saved flight from the plane you parked so in theory it should not cause any problems.

But you should choose a stock plane, stock scenery, default fsx.cfg and re-test if you have any problems.

Steve,

Thanks for your idea, FYI the flights concerned were with the default FSX Lear and default scenery. I shall at some stage attempt to follow your instructions and see if that solves the issue.

See if the Ideal_Flight.FLT file can be opened in explorer allowing FSX to load it.
