Can not find the airport FSDreamTeam PHNL

Postby winchan » Wed Sep 12, 2012 1:06 pm

Hi Steve.

I have a scenery of FSDreamTeam.
But I can not find the PHNL and have turned on the ILS filter.
run the Complete scenery index, there is no change.
Is there something we need?

Have you trieds with the filter unchecked? or Apply Filter: NO
Also see if the scebnery is listed in the Scenery Report (globe button on world map page).

...I see it is in your scenery list (sorry missed that earlier), so it will most likely be the filter, make sure to not apply the filter when asked.

Look at the runway length available at the airport and look at the runway length specified in the Aircraft Parameters, make sure the runway available is longer that the aircraft required runway length.

The popup message to apply flter or not when you do a search, means there are airports within the search that will not show up if the filter is applied. To see ALL airports within the search, say NO to apply filter.

Thanks for the reply.
By turning off the ILS filter, I came out to search.

View Airport Map.
Location: Lat N21 ° 19.1 ', Lon W157 ° 55.3', Altitude 13 ft
Runways 8L/26R: Asphalt, Length 12300 ft, Width 150 ft
Runways 8R/26L: Asphalt, Length 11995 ft, Width 199 ft
Runways 4R/22L: Asphalt, Length 9008 ft, Width 150 ft
Runways 4L/22R: Asphalt, Length 6958 ft, Width 150 ft
Runways 4/22: Asphalt, Length 1000 ft, Width 29 ft
Runways 8/26: Water, Length 5000 ft, Width 300 ft
Runways 4/22: Water, Length 3000 ft, Width 150 ft

ILS does not exist.
I wonder if airport scenery itself is wrong.

THANK YOU.

I found a notation on the forum of FSDreamTeam.
The same phenomenon, but different software.
Is there a relationship?

Some airports ovelay the original scenery and require the runways and ILS data from the existing scenery. These are generally handled OK by IF, EKCH is an example. However, if the ILS is not showing for this airport then something may be fooling IF to ignore the underlying airports data.

In a way it is little trouble for the airport designer to include the runway and ILS and other aspects as if a completely new airport, so an existing airport of the same name is ignored entirely. A problem of FSX is that there are so many possibilities to create the scenery, they really should be made to the same specifications as the stock scenery.

I will get hold of the airport and see what is going on.

Thanks for helping!

...been sidetracked with other issues but now looking into this problem. Looks like they included runways with no ref to ILSs, would be a whole lot easier if they just included the refs. In the IF briefing the approaches/STARs include the ILS there. Hopefully I'll devise a way to get the ILS associated with the runways in the addon airport soon.

The runway definitions of PHNL addon airport do not associate with any navs and so the navs existing already in the sim stock PHNL are ignored.

The old version of EKCH proves IF works properly:
The runways in EKCH point to their navaids, but there is no navdata included with the airport, IF properly reads the navdata from the original EKCH. EKCH was updated to include navdata as well. It is better not to have to read two airports in diverse locations on the disk.

If I add ILS to runways where they are not specified someone elses airport will go wrong.

I'm not the scenery expert but the runways data in the PHNL addon is missing the navdata associations.

If another program paints all the navaids from other scenery files on a map or places them all in the sim they may look like navaids for the airport but their runways say "no navs".
