What about a weather radar or some other in sim feature of the plane you have loaded, and this feature is waiting for input from FSX weather?

I give up! I don't have anything else weird that could possibly interfering, and like I said, I have had 2 completely unique PCs on totally fresh installs, so... I'm lost! But it's not the end of the world, at least I DO have a way to get it to work OK with IF, it just takes a few extra minutes to do. ;)

Hi molleh,

IF will generally work one way or another with fussy planes.

Given that we are only opening a .FLT with FSX in a hidden command box, and the only difference is whether FSX is already running or has to start up fresh, the order of events can become different and there may be other dependancies.

Thanks for your help with these issues.

I had another enquiry about the winds as someone found they stalled. When I made the same flight I found it was possible to get into a large CB anvil thundercloud. These can draw you up into them if you are a small plane and you can stall. With the weather updates set more frequent, there is less chance that there is a big change to the weather with time passing. During the day the weather can change dramatically.
Speak later.

...forgot to mention accu-feel can cause stalling with incorrect settings...

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the update. I tried it but no change in behavior with the MD11, it still requires me to click through the Weather screen (even if I only click, i.e. no changes made whatsoever) in order for IF to sync with FSX when using the MD11.

Thanks for checking that for me, was only a hunch. Will continue to investigate.
All the best
