A2A Stratocruiser and IF

Postby Brent » Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:07 pm

I tried out the Stratocruiser aircraft with the 'Captain of the Ship' upgrade from A2A today with IF and have a couple of issues:

1. When starting from cold and dark through IF I'm able to get everything started according to the A2A startup procedures but I'm unable to get the aircraft to move forward. I can firewall the throttles on those four big engines and she doesn't budge (yes the parking brake is OFF). I don't see this issue if I start her up without IF running the flight. If I change the cold and dark options to 'engines running' there is no problem with aircraft response to the throttle (i.e. the aircraft moves when I give the throttles a nudge).

2. The parameters for the payload seems to ignore what is the potential payload available from the A2A fuel and payload screen. IF generates a flight with crew and cargo only, no pax and usually results in a total payload of around 1500 lb. I would suspect the aircraft.cfg is reporting some weird payload max to accomodate the A2A Accusim modelling. The max pax is 12,740 lb and cargo is 17,100 lb plus 900 lb of supplies.

Any hints or advice would be helpful. I'm using IF version 'ru'

Thanks
Brent

Tried version 'rw' but it did't help - same result.

The load manifest had zeros for weight and then the weights added elsewhere so I included for the possibility when reading the cfg.

Are the brakes on? Can you move off if you dab one of the footbrakes first?

No, the brakes aren't on as far as I can tell (i.e. no red 'BRAKE' label) and no amount of touching the brakes seem to matter.

Strange one this. Using FSX Save menu item and inspecting the saved.FLT; the brakes seem to be on because the parking brake is on, as soon as I release the handbrake the footbrakes are off too. But the main thing is the brakes don't stay on. If I hold the brakes on or set the parking brake the plane moves and the brakes groan. Try using the 'Push Back button' - shift+P to see if the brakes groan.

I had no problem with the pushback, just no movemement when I push the throttles up. Are you not seeing the problem with your installation of the Strat? Are you using the Capt of the Ship version? If you can't reproduce the issue I'm having maybe I should try a reinstall. :?:

yes i have the full-on package, seems to be no problem moving off. Your's actslike the engines are dead but spinning? Does it move with Shift-P?

Hi Brent,
Can you try IF [rx] Preview 4 - in the newbuilds section.
Thanks

Steve
That version works for me. Full control of the Strat and a reasonable payload is presented with the flight generator.

However, the fuel amounts aren't being loaded and payload doesn't match the briefing. I'm not sure if you're unable to carry that over on the Strat but I thought I'd mention it. Also the payload that is loaded seems to go primarily to the forward cargo and not to pax. No problem to use the A2A payload and fuel mgr to match the briefing though so certainly not a showstopper. :)

Thanks for jumping on this! :D

All the best
