OK Now when I press Activate for the EFB plan, IF remains in the same state - the log shows the new plan has been started. Thanks for your help with this, I'll upload a preview version to the Development & New Builds section for you to try shortly.

Just testing a route EFB seems good. I found there is no question to start at the beginning of the plan because the new plan starts at your previous position! :)

Sounds like it'll be a winner then, thank you. Will I be able to patch a trial version to test it out?

Hi Steve, sorry for the delayed response. Lack of presence in a support forum sometimes is a good thing. :D

Yes, the update seemed to cure my issue with Aivlasoft, and your support in concert with the product drove me to a purchase. I'm a proud owner of a shiny new fully functional product.

Couple more questions and I apologize if they have been referenced before. Is there support for navigraph data? Is there a procedure for updating the nav data?

Also, I noticed when generating a flight the .pln file that is created includes the TOC and TOD as actual waypoints. Is that necessary to the application's operation? It's not a huge deal, but Aivlasoft showed it on the list of way points in the plan. Odd.

And finally, if I pull a real flight plan for a given route, is there an easy way to copy that flight plan into the generated plan? I see an edit button in the flight generator, but I'm not sure how I would copy waypoints and airways without a fair amount of effort.

Thanks again!

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your support.

See http://www.codelegend.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=186

When you say Navigraph data what would you expect IF to do with the data? Do you mean you want the SIDs/STARs applied to the plan. At the moment the plans go from airport to nearest airway. Once assigned an approach, that approach can be loaded into the GPS or FMS.

With EFB you stop, get the new plan, and continue. Would you want IF to silently rebuild the plan and inject it once you have an approach?

I spent some time copy/pasting Navigraph waypoints into the plan and was not too hard - select the AIRAC file, lookup the transition, copy the few waypoint lines and paste into IFs Edit Plan Window.

here's an old shot of a Navigraph STAR, ATC ignored it completely by the way but more or less followed the IF computed approach...

I am in the middle of deciding how the functions for the upgrade will work, your views appreciated.

You can open any plan or drop it on IF (or the desktop icon) and it will read in the plan. Watch out, a bug crept in last minute that forgets the waypoints if the destination is the same as last time. I have a fixed file for anyone that needs it.

Once again your prompt responses are indeed appreciated.

In reference to the nav data, my assumption is that in order for a flight plan to be generated using one of the options such as "use airways, vor to vor", etc you would need to know what vor's and airways are available correct? Where does IF get this information from today? This concept seems to lend itself to navigraph in order to have access to up-to-date information. Just curious how IF knows what to use as its source when generating a route.

Sids and stars I personally am less concerned with as Aivlasoft already injects this into the flight plan as they are activated, but that doesn't mean others won't like that. For my taste I just need IF to continue to be able to handle changes in the flight plan as the flight progresses. Your updates on that topic seem to work very well now.

As far as opening a flight plan file, that's a great feature, but it might be nice if I had a method for taking a standardized route, such as "ROCKI DBL J60 BCE GRNPA" going from KDEN to KLAS as an example, and paste that route right into IF. I often pull routes from Flightaware, or vroute that I then use to generate the flight plan from. I'm not sure how I would do that in IF.
