Briefing Disappears from Kneeboard

Postby sargeski » Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:56 pm

When I first start a flight, the Kneeboard opens in FSX with the Ideal Flight generated briefing displayed. However, if I close the kneeboard or choose something else in the kneeboard to look at such as a checklist, the briefing that was generated by Ideal Flight is no longer displayed when briefing is again selected in the kneeboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Could you check the briefing is still set after the briefing disappears...
- by using the menu "start flight" the briefing should reappear.
- try "save flight" then "load saved flight" withot leaving the sim - does it still come back then?

2. Is there something else that could be accessing the kneeboard?
- have you tried FSX+IF alone?
- what O/S do you have? Could it be a problem with your Ie setup?

If I save the flight and then load the flight without exiting the sim the briefing does come back and it does not disappear. I am running Win 7 x64. This happens when running IF with FSX alone.

Strange, can you try a default fsx.cfg? Save away your current one and delete it from the folder, then fsx will create a new one. You can get to that folder by using the IF menu item at the airport screen - Explorer Items - FSX Config, this runs explorer right there.

There could be some problem with the FSX installation. It could be that somehow internally FSX loses the path to the html briefing set in the .FLT for the start of the flight, and so points back to its default directory, as if "Path=flights\other\" had been invoked in the .FLT.

If this persists, you can solve this by copying the redirector IFlight.htm in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\\idealflight\
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flights\other
with explorer

I may make IF copy it during install/update, just in case of problems like this.

Thanks for the replys Steve.

I've been playing with this some more this morning. Here is what I've found; If Ioad the flight from the FSX menu the briefing disappears. If However, I start FSX and then load the flight with the simulator already running the briefing displays as it should in the kneeboard.
