Hi Steve,

It's me again lol. I hate posting these questions as I don't want you to feel I'm nagging or nitpicking as they say ;)

I did another 2 flight today, One from LFOE to EGSS and one from EGSS to LSGG. The first flight said departure was vis of 2nm and rain, however in the sim at departure airport I was seeing a few scattered clouds, clear visibility and no rain. The second flight again said that the destination would be 2nm vis but was clear when I arrived.

I know you said that the reports are for areas rather than airports, how far does the area extend? I'm on my 12th flight with IF and a few times it's said rain at either the departure or arrival airport and I've not seen it once. Also I use Aivlasofts electronic flight bag for charts when flying IFR. That program has the ability to pull weather directly from FSX. When using IF to control the weather electronic flight bag says that no weather has been set for departure or arrival, but if I turn IF off and use Active sky to inject the weather electronic flight bag can read it. Does IF control the weather differently that's why its not showing in flight bag? I can see that weather exists in the sim as I have clouds and winds etc. so it's setting something.

Please don't take this post as complaining or nagging, I'm just curious as to how the weather works in IF, and why I don't seem to get anything like the reports lol.

Thanks.
Dean.

Ha ha, it sounds like the weather is random! :D
I'm getting good weather reports, vis and temps all look good.
With rain, as you fly around in "Rain", the rain turns on and off, so it's not raining when it is, lol.
Also let's say it can be overcast a mile away, but you get a report of overcast since there is some overcastness in the region. Also the time of the report may be half hour before and it has moved on.

I'll have a look at EFB, could be it's only going to work with aerodrome reports from the net, IF weather is a sim. Metars are injected the same as ASE, REX, or FSX realworld weather so you can ask for a report at a station and you get the weather that is there. Perhaps EFB does not ask the sim.

Speak later...

EFB seems to only download the weather report from the net. I may put realworld weather in soon, but it's so well done by REX and ASE, it's not been a priority.

I'm still getting good results for the temps and vis with [rr]. [rq] could be a little looser by a few Nm in same places.

Can you give [rr pre1] a go? On the dev/newbuilds section. See if it helps re: temps & vis. You may need to unpause before making a reading of temperature in-sim, depends on plane.

Hi Steve,

I shall try and give it a go this afternoon. Failing that I will definitely have time on Sunday morning and I'll report back as soon as I have tested it.

Hi Steve,

I did 2 flights this morning and so far it looks like all temps were fine. The altimeter setting were slightly off thought, Report said 29.82 but in the sim it was 29.92 and never shifted through the whole flight from Germany to Switzerland. I will hopefully have time for some more testing this evening.

Good work Steve, much appreciated.

The pressures should not be 2992, that's the FSX default value, the IF default value is 2989.
When you are in the sim, press B for the correct Altimiter reading see if that helps, and check in with ATC and press B after they report the pressure.
