There must have been remnents of FSX still around when you installed FSX-SE, it needs to find none. "fsx-se" is no good, and It will confuse other addons depending on what they do.

The way to install FSX-SE is either alongside FSX or instead of FSX. So we need to decide which it's going to be. If we leave a working FSX on the system and install FSX-SE we get:

If we want FSX-SE installed to be most compatible with addons (remember few addons know about FSX-SE yet), then we have to install FSX-SE on a fresh system and install the Legacy Interfaces found in the FSX-SE SDK folder. We can install on a system previously having FSX but all traces of FSX must be removed (apart from the simconnect modules which are hard to remove).

So we would need to ensure there are no parts of FSX on the system before we install FSX-SE. We must ensure these folders do not exist before we install FSX-SE:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
cfg:
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG
documents:
C:\Users\<you>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files
pics:
C:\Users\<you>\Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files

When these are removed we can install FSX-SE and it will install to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX

and the other folders will be the same as FSX:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
cfg:
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG

C:\Users\<you>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

...So with the single installation of FSX-SE done properly, we can install IF10, and only need to point the FSX folder edit window to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX", the simconnect system will use the SP1a version 61242.

Hi followed all that including deleting fsxse
Nothing on pc for fsx or fsxse

Still same problem,
Installs as fsx to steam common and is fsx.exe
But....
Appdata/roaming is fsx-se
Local same
Program data same

Wonder if the update on fsxse is now installing this way?
Any ideas

I've got various installs of the latest version, but they don't install that way. Only when I installed parallel to FSX do I get those "fsx-se" folders. There's no way to alter the current version of IF10 to suit that situation.

Just checked again and theres is no fsx present at all
Ive managed to install most other programs into fsxse, from updates,
are you updating yours to work, if so when would this be.

Ive noidea why it is not installing, seems the other guy you gave same info to has same problem

Any help would be great as love using you software

IF10 does not recognise folders named "FSX-SE", why would it? So you need to install FSX-SE as FSX so it's the same as FSX, that's what DTG intended, works OK here along with other addons. There's an update [sh] coming shortly which helps with FSX-SE installations, and also a new version [sm] specifically for FSX-SE.

Once again deleted and reinstalled fsxse, have checked pc before reinstallation for anything with fsx or fsx se and got rid of it.
Same result as ive already reported. Ill just have to wait for your update, any idea when

Well you must have something left on there from FSX. The whole intention of FSX-SE was to look like FSX when installed. But if any component of FSX is found during the install, then the install is elevated to the dual mode. If you've installed FSX-SE in dual mode, then that will have to be removed in full too, before installing.


make sure you got rid of these:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

and see that the registry key is removed:

Once again your steps copied to the letter
Once again same results

I shall have to wait now for update as it takes 2 hours to delete all and reinstall just back to vanilla, plus adding all addons back
Dont know why it should not work, but I feel ive really give it my best shot
Hope you can sort the update out as really like using ideal flight


Also deleted registry just in case but as ive said no different

Appdata local etc all install as fsx-se, but inside folder of appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx-se/is fsx.cfg

main software in common/ is fsx and fsx.exe
