OK. Figured out how to get SimConnect to send trace. Once I click "Fly Now", I get the following message on a console from Simconnect:

0.00000
SimConnect version 10.0.61259.00.00947
Server: Scope=local, Protocol=Pipe, Name=\\.\pipe\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimConnect, MaxClients=64
0.03133
Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv6, Address=::1, Port=1859, MaxClients=64
0.03581
Server: Scope=local, Protocol=IPv4, Address=127.0.0.1, Port=1860, MaxClients=64

I assume that means SimConnect is loading fine?

Just installed REX to test its communication with Simconnect. Had to reduce the level of debugging to Normal.

Attaching the log I get when REX loads FSX. the version of the Simconnect looks the same. I aborted the load after some time as it was taking forever.

Hope this additional information helps.

*** For some reason the log file is not getting attached. Pasting the contents below.

that doesn't look like REX loading and it's repeating an attempt to register definitions. your FSX is up the creek :geek:

...thing about Ideal Flight 10 is that it's been designed and written correctly, installation, removal, security, network, memory, threading, blah, blah. If IF10 senses something up with FSX it won't make the connection.

in your simconnect trace the "program" is trying to register for variables and continues to do so in a loop, blocking the next client which will be IF10 which waits for the other clients, and IF10 retrains data rates during running the sim for best performance. These are some of the reasons IF10 has no impact whatsoever on framerates.

...so you get my drift; any suggestion of IF10 having a problem is nigh on 99.999% not going to be a fault of IF10.

There is a problem cured in the [sf] update (out as soon as I can deliver it now) whereby an addon aircraft takes too long to do the kind of simconnect thang you posted above. IF10 drops it as not working correctly. I've increased the timeout for this as a couple of planes can fool IF10 by taking too long.

Hey Steve,

The point of posting the log from SimConnect for Rex was to ask if SimConnect was loading properly. When I run IF10 (without Rex). I get three lines on the debug window and the debug window does not show any more additional lines. I run Rex (without IF10) and it shows similar first 3 lines followed by a lot more chatter. It may be showing errors IMHO because REX is trying to set up the weather when FSX is still trying to load the home screen. At no time is IF10 running together along with REX.

Considering that we started with the initial premise of a problem of SimConnect being messed up (WinSXS problem), since the debug window is showing that IF10 also load SimConnect - does this premise still hold?

Apologies for being persistent. I am in no way trying to imply there may be something wrong with IF10 code. But we all know program's fail due to some condition we may not have accounted for. I am trying to eliminate / isolate this condition. After all the trouble I am giving you, we may just hit upon your solution to handle this problem! :geek:

I am signing off for tonight. Let me know what I need to do to help you identify the issue.

unfortunately I've no idea what's up with your system, the trace output shows something very odd, and who knows what's going on there...

...I reread your posts and they don't make a lot of sense, because a regular windows and fsx and stock scenery and plane will work without question, the rest is up to you. REX, AS, FSGRW etc, present no problems for IF10, but remember to set IF10's fictional weather off before using REX, and make sure you set REX to start with FSX.

Steve - I can appreciate it is not making sense. It's not making sense to me either. However, trying to debug by process of elimination, if I get the following on the SimConnect debug window:

RagsInRags wrote:0.00000 SimConnect version 10.0.61259.00.00947

Can I conclude SimConnect is loading fine with IF10? :?
